of the West and South. In Cincinnati
alone he owned 40 houses, 10 of them In
one block, and In Hamilton county, outside
of Cincinnati, be bad not less than 000
acres of valuable laud. Mo bad 40,000
acres in Kentucky,a recent purchase, worth
about $100,000, and 12,000 In Iowa, for
which he was lately offered $12 an acre.
He also bad a largo amount in govern
ment securities, investing at one time $00,
000. His taxes in Hamilton county last
year amounted to $0,000. He bas a
nephew and other relatives living here, and
it is believed that be left a will, but search
up to the present time bas failed to dis
cover the document. It is expected that
litigation will follow, and lawyers are look
ing for fat pickings.

of to-day constituted the knotty problems
of hypothesis but a few years since. I'n
