Couldn't Behave Herself.
A Saratoga ctirrespondent of the New
York Commercial Adverliiicr overheard
two young ladies talking, and this Is
what they said :
" Well, I'm going home to-morrow."
"What for pray V"
" Because 1 can't behave myself."
"Well, out with It, Jennie. What
have you been doing.
"Lots of things."
" Well, give us the first V"
" You know Frank Kennedy, Nell 1"
"That soft, simpering fellow that

coming, and made up my mind to take

Be Reasonable In All Things.
As they were about to quaff, one of
the party suddenly called out to another,

A few months ago, one of the
masters of a country grammar school
died. The school building closed on
the day of the funeral. Johnny Smith
spent the time playing by a pond near
his house. A few days since, his mother
sent him to school as usual, but Johnny
preferred playing by the pond, where he
met his futher. His futher inquired why
he was not at school. Johnny said
there was no school, and when pressed
for a reason, replied, triumphantly,
