New Pension Law.
UNDER an aot of Congress approved March 8,
1873, widows of olllcers who were killed, or
died of disease contracted In the service, are now
entitled to 12.00 per mouth for each of their chil
dren. The guardian of a minor child ol a soldier who
heretofore only received 18.00 per month pension
Is now entitled to (10. per mot h.
Soldiers who receive invalid pensions can now
have tlieir pensions Increased to any sum or rata
between IB. and $18. per month.
Soldiers who have lost their discharges can now
obtain duplicates.
Fathers and mothers who lost sons In the serv
ice upon whom .aey were dependent for support,

years ago between Judge O and a
candidate for door-keeper of the House.
' Enter candidate, who supposes the
Judge to be a member.
Candidate. " If you plcose, Kir, I wish
to be elected door-keeper of the House,
and if you will be so good as to vote for
me I will try to" .
Judge. " Take a seat, Sir, and I will
examine yfift." .
Candidate. " Yes, Blr, If you please."
Judge (gravely). " Have you ever been
a door-keeper J"'
Candidate. "No, Blr; but I trust by

Judge. " Have you ever been Instruct
