A Slight Mistake.
The present Archbishop of publln,

of the dinner the company wan startled
by seeing the Archbishop rise from his

UirA laughable story is related of
Dunning, an Knglish Judg. It is said
of him that frequently, In the examina

great coarseness, and drew upon him
self the animadversion of his brethern.
On one occasion, wishing to establish
the Identity of a jwrty through the
instrumentality of an unsophisticated
old woman (occupying tho witness
stand), the following highly amusing
colloquy is said to have taken place be
tween Dunning and tbe old woman :
Dunning. "Was he tall man ?"
Witness. "Not very tall, your honor
much about the size of your worship's
honor."
Dun. " Was. he good looking V"'
Wit. "Quite contrary much like
your honor ; but with a handsomer
nose."
Dun. Did he squint V" v -Wit.
" A little, your worship ; but

These replies produced a roar of laugh

lie assured, gentlemen, this Is not -the-case.
When you know his lordship as
well as I do, it will be unnecessary to
tell you that when be" shakes his head '
