8 THE TIMES, NEW BLOOMFIELD, PA., MAliClI 20, 1877. Balls in Place of Birds. Captain A. H. I5o(rardiiB, of Klkhart, 111., champion wing shot, has tnado a nintcli of nove! clinrncter with a prominent cltzen of New Vjik. lie lias bet )00 even that he will break 1,000 glass balls in 2 hours ami forty minutes, the balls to be sprung from threo or four traps, tlioiili only one ball to be sent into the nir nt a time. Tbo shooter will stand eighteen yards from the traps, and no ball to be counted unless broken before Striking the ground. It is also stipu lated that Dogardus shall use one gun throughout the match, unless the gun be comes disabled, wheu another gun can be chosen. Two sets of barrels are allowed und he will confine himself to 'lj ounco shot. In order to give the people of that city and vicinity an opportunity of witness ing this trial against time, skill and endur ance, Gilmore's Garden has been engaged for Friday evening, 16th Inst., when the shooting will take place. This is the first time the Captain has ever attempted the feat, and he is of the opinion that to win he must average ninety broken balls in 100 and fire fully 1,000 shots. Though not con fident, he has hopes of success, yet if he fai Is, ho is willing to bet f 1,000 against 500 that there is no man in the world who can break them quicker than he will. Bogardus has recently returned from Cali fornia, where he astonished all the crack. . shots of that section, and though not quite so well satisfied with the trip as he was with his journey to England, it was, on the whole, satisfactory. The shooting at Gilmore's will commence at eight P. M., sharp. The Important Question. Of tho lonesome diseases Catarrh stands pre-eminent. It renders its victim as dis- gusting to himself as to others. And the most humiliating of all is the consciousness -that his presence is offensive to those around him. If any disease deserves the name of universal, it is this. Dietetic ' errors and tho follies which Fashion im poses upon us tend to foster and dissem inate it. To the pitiful cry of its victims, is there any care for Catarrh t there is but one answer consistent with Christian reason. God has never sent one evil into the world for which he has not sent the remedy. For the greatest of all spiritual and moral evils, tho Great Physician has prescribed a potent and never-failing reme dy. He has given explicit rules for the treatment and preservation of the spiritual and moral man, but He is silent iu all matters relating to the pbysicial man. It would be an unwarrantable detraction from His beneficent character to suppose that He 'has afflicted the greater portion of humanity with an incurable disease. The day of plagues is past. The God of Christianity is a God of Love, of Mercy, His message is "good will to all men." The earth and all contained therein was intended by the great Designer to supply man's wants ; and surely he has no greater wants than remedies for his infirmities. Science is rapidly proving that the earth is fitted to supply man's uttermost need. New medicinal plants are developed from those already known. For Catarrh, the most potent remedy yet discovered is Dr. Bage'a Catarrh Remedy. Its efficacy has been tested in many thousand cases with uniform success. Cases that had been re peatedly pronounced incurable, readily yielded to it. In confirmed, or obstinate cases, Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Dis covery should be taken in connection with the use of the Catarrh Remedy. Full particulars in Pierce's Memorandum Books. They are given away by druggists. A Queer Fall In Church. There was a sudden sensation in an Oak land church on a late Sunday. It appears that a young lady member of the choir be came so anxious to examine a certain es ssperatingly pretty bonnet in a pew back under the organ loft, that she lost her bal ance and turned summersault down upon the unsuspecting congregation. The minis ter bad only reached "tentbly" when he was shocked by a dissolving view of striped stockings ; and the millionaire underneath had just selected bis smallest coin for the heathen, wheu a pair of two inch heels struck him in the back of bis neck. Terrible Accident. A pante in the Church of St. Francis Xavier, in Sixteenth street, near the Sixth . avenue, New York, Thursday, caused a rush of women from one of the galleries, and in the tumult which ensued six wo men and one boy were trampled under foot and killed. The congregation was composed entirely of women and children, it being "women's week" in Lent. The cumber of persons injured could not be ascertained. The bodies of the unfortunates were taken to the Twenty-fifth precinct station-house, where they remain awaiting identification. From Hie Troy Timer, March 18, 1871 Peruvian Hyrnp is a standard remedy for ' building up and renewing broken-down or nervous cmiHtitutions. For Dyspepsia, Debility, Liver Complaint, Kidney and Bladder Diseases, or part of the many irregularities of the various organs of the human frame, it is a sovereign remedy. It is a tonio without alcohol. This medi cine is too well known already to inquire any commendation from us. It is only necessary for us to say to those who Lave uever given it a trial that it will accomplish all that is claimed for it Now is the time to tone up the system before the hot months of summer fairly set in. Sold by all drug gists. . Hf Charles Noe, of?. Morrisville, Ver mont, found a pocketbook oontainiDg f 790, belonging to L. IS. Boy n ton, in August, 1874, and devoted the money to paying for farm iu Elmore. Noe is now in jail. 1877 SPUING 1877. 1877 SPUING 1877. 1877 SPUING 1877. SPECIAL INDUCEMENTS.
