The children were naturals at taping for a television show. November 1 they started cursive writing. November 6 report cards went home with a new grading system used. Kraybill wins Ron Kraybill, Elizabeth- town, currently a student at Goshen College, is a winner in the 1975 John Horsch Mennonite History Essay Contest. Ron won first prize in the division for college juniors and seniors for his essay, ‘‘Evaluations of the Men- nonite Period of Change, 1870-1920". He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon P. Kraybill, RR1, Box 612, Elizabeth- town. He is a member of the Bossler Mennonite Church. The contest encourages The students are learning about antonyms, synonyms, and homonyms. They also started a unit on senses. Everyone enjoys poetry and is preparing to recite and sing for Thanksgiving. On November 17, Mill Nagle started teaching. She will teach through Decem- ber 12. essay contest Mennonite students to re- search congregational, in- stitutional histories and biographies of past and present leaders in the Mennonite Church. It also encourages research on the rise of special organizations of the church and sub- jects related to the history of Anabaptism and the Men- nonite Church. The contest is named in memory of John Horsch (1867-1941), a leading his- torian and writer of the Mennonite Church. Santa coming to Hostetter’s by Rev. Stephen Getty Santa Claus will arrive in Mount Joy on Friday, December S, at 6:30 p.m. Children may visit with him that evening until 8:30 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:00 until 11:30 a.m. at his headquarters at Hostetter’s Hardware Store, 93 E. Main St. He will be at Hostetter’s each Friday evening and Saturday morning until Christmas. Assisting Santa will be members of the Joycee-ettes Julie Kanoff joins United Miss Julie Kanoff, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kanoff of 9 West Elizabeth St., Maytown, has enlisted into the U.S. Army's delay- ed entry program. Julie will be graduating in June of 1976 and will be leaving for eight weeks of basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama on July 14, 1976. From there she will be going to’ a fifteen week course as a medical labora- tory specialist at the Aca- demy of Health Sciences, Fort Sam Houstan, Texas. There she will be taught clinical chemistry, urinaly- sis, hematology, immuno- hematology, seralogy, para- sitology, bacteriology, mathematics, procedures that include processing, testing, storing and issue of whole blood and blood and Jaycees. The Jaycees will take pictures of the children for those parents who desire them. These photos make excellent sou- venirs of a big event in each child's life, and make excellent Christmas gifts for grandparents.
