Diocese of Central Pennsyl-
vania will visit St. Luke’s
Episcopal Church, Mount
Joy, on Sunday, November
23, at the 10:30 a.m.
service.
The rector of St. Luke's,
The Rev. Donald M. White-
sel will present fourteen
candidates to be confirmed
or received into the faith of
the Episcopal Church. They
are: Ann Eicherly, Susan
Gebhart, Tracie Grove, Gay
McKain, Douglas McKain,
Mimi Weber, Julia Whitesel,
Donna Sweigart, Omer Geib,
Gladys Geib, Thomas Kopf,
Philip Kling, Donna Kling,
and Eugene Funk.
Bishop Stevenson will
also preach the sermon. Dr.
David Schlosser will provide
special organ music, and the
parish choirs directed by
Mrs. Kenneth Warren and
Mrs. Donald Whitesel will
participate. A reception in
honor of the newly confirm-
ed members will be held in
the Undercroft of the church
immediately following the
service. At 8:30 a.m. on
that day Father Whitesel
will celebrate the Holy
Communion.
An invitation is extended
to all members of the parish
and their friends to attend
the services on this import-
ant day in the life of St.
Luke’s Church.
ST. MARK’S CHURCH
A special Sunday Worship
Service, combining the Har-
vest Home and Thanksgiv-
ing themes, will be held at
St. Mark’s United Metho-
dist Church, Mount Joy, on
November 23rd, at 10:15
a.m. A large cornucopia will
be the focal point of the
day’s praise, and from it will
spill out the gifts of the
people of St. Mark’s Church
for the Simpson House in
Philadelphia. The congreg-
ation has been asked to
bring commercially canned
juices and fruits, commerci-
ally (canned) preserved jel-
lies and jams, fresh fruits
and vegetables (potatoes
and apples), baby powder,
Kleenex and soap. Those
who desire to give money
will be supporting the
Bishop’s Food-For-Work
program of the denomina-
tion. As in the past, a large
response is expected.
The worship program
features the music of three
choirs, especially selected
for the occasion. The
Chancel Choir will sing
“Psalm 150’ of Cesar
Franck. The Cherub Choir,
making their first appear-
ance of this fall, will render
“We Praise You for the
Sun’. And the Ladies
Chorus will sing *‘Thou
Visitest the Earth” (Arr. by
Thomas). The Pastor, W.
Richard Kohler, will bring a
message appropriate to the
observance. Mrs. John D.
Hershey has the lay-per-
son’s ‘“*‘Minute-Message’’ of
the day.
In the afternoon, begin-
ning at 4:30 p.m., in the
church's Fellowship Halll,

there will be a Carry-in
supper for church members
and their invited guests, the
Vietnamese families of the
Mount Joy area - who have
been specially contacted. It
is a get-acquainted time and
an opportunity to exchange
food and experiences within
the context of ‘“Thanksgiv-
ing”’
THANKSGIVING SERVICE
The annual Thanksgiv-
ing service will be held in St.
Luke’s Episcopal Church,
Mount Joy, on Wednesday,
Thanksgiving Eve, Novem-
ber 26, at 7:30 p.m.
The rector of the church,
the Rev. Donald M Whitesel
will celebrate the Holy
Communion and preach the
sermon. Special music will
be provided by the Senior
Choir and the organist, Dr.
David Schlosser. The
familiar hymns of thanksgiv-
ing will be sung by the
congregation. Carrying on a
tradition begun several
years ago, every window in
the church will be decorated
by members of the parish, to
depict a different thanksgiv-
ing story.
Many people visit St.
Luke’s at this season to view
the beauty of the windows
and the altar. An invitation
is extended to the public to
worship in St. Luke's at this
particular service.
THANKSGIVING
BREAKFAST

The Young people of the
English Presbyterian Church
in Marietta are holding a
Thanksgiving breakfast, on
Thursday morning, Novem-
ber 27th at 8:00 a.m., in the
Social Hall of the church.
““Messiahs Messengers’’,
a group of young people
from the Grandview Metho-
dist Church of Lancaster,
will be present and give a
concert.
They were with us last
year and were well received.
The breakfast is open to
the public, but you must
make reservations.
