‘Arsenic and old Lace’ at DHS
The DHS senior class production of ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ can be seen Friday and
Saturday at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. A free matinee for senoir citizens will be
performed this afternoon at 1:15. z

Sixteen contestants in Mount Joy Jaycees’

Sixteen youngsters
participated in the bicycle
rodeo on November 8th at
Seiler Elementary School.
Sponsored by the Mount Joy
Jaycees, the event tested
the knowledge and ability of
the children in operating
their bicycles safely.
Billy Cox, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. William Cox, 11
South Market Street, earned
the highest number of
points, scoring 197 of a
possible 200 points. All six-
teen children who entered
the contest did so well that
each received a prize of a
hamburger and french fries
at the Mount Joy Tastee-
Freez.
The other contestants

Church, Marietta, on Sun-
day, November 23, at 10
a.m. Reverend Aristede S.
Red, priest-in-charge of St.
John’s is the chaplain of the
Pioneer Fire Company.
Indians lose
The Donegal Indians
lost to Lebanon Catholic,
13-22 last Saturday, al-
though they outgained their
opponents 393 to 226 yards.
Donegal was ahead 7-0 at
the beginning, on a pass
from Kevin Bradley to Bill
Gainer.

Christ Walter retires after 43 years, Gerald Hostetter elected
to the board of the Mount Joy Building and Loan Association
After 43 years of
service, Christ Walters re-
tired last week as a member
of the board of directors of
the Mount Joy Building and
Loan Association.
Gerald A. Hostetter is
replacing Walters on the
board.
Walters was born in
Mount Joy, November 30,
1890.
At age 18 he went to work
for Clarence Schock’s Lum-
ber and Coal Company,
working his way up to
manager. He was with the
Schock Company 31 years.
From 1939 until 1959,
when he retired, he worked
for J. C. Snavely and Sons in
Landisville.
Walters is a member of
Chiques United Methodist
Church, Casiphia Lodge No.
155, in Mount Joy, Lodge of
Perfection in Lancaster,
Harrisburg Convertory, and
Zembo Temple in Harris-
burg.
He was a charter member
of the Mount Joy Rotary
Club.
He married the former

Hostetter, also a lifelong
resident of Mount Joy, was
born July 12, 1926.
He was graduated from
Mount Joy High School,
class of 1944, served in the
Army Air Force in World
War II, entered the U.S.
Postal Service as a clerk in
1950, became Postmaster of
Mount Joy in 1973.
He is married to the
former Lois Banner; their
son Drew is a senior at
Bloomsburg State College.
Other members of the
