G. Nauman heads Bicen parade

George H. Nauman will
be chairing the Bicentennial
Parade Committe. The
parade will be held on
Saturday, May 29, 1976 at
2°;00 p.m. Working with
the Mount Joy Community
Council and the Mount Joy
Bicentennial Commission,
Mr. Nauman expressed the
hope that area organiza-
tions will participate by
entering floats with an
historical theme. More
details will be published at a
later date.
The Mount Joy Bicenten-
nial Commission will hold its
next meeting at the Boro
Hall on Wednesday, No-
vember 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Area residents wishing to
volunteer their time helping
the Commission are wel-
come to attend. Anyone
possessing old photographs
of Mount Joy residences,
churches, businesses, hotels
etc., should bring them to
the meeting or contact Mrs.
Patrick Moran. These
photos will be used in a
pictorial book of Mount Joy
to be published in the
Spring. Items will be
handled with care and
returned promptly.
Activities at Friendship Fire Co.
The monthly meeting of
Friendship Fire Co. No. 1
was brought to order at
7:30 p.m. on November 6 by
President Doug Estock.
Chief Frank Good reported
5 fire calls and 4 service
calls for the month of
October. Since January 1,
1975 the department has
answered S0 fire calls and 52
service calls.
The Ambulance Commit-
tee reported the airways
have arrived and that forms
were mailed to Medicare in
order to receive donations
for transporting persons
with Medicare. A training
session was held November
3 on fractures, splinting,
and immobilization. The
November Duty Officer is
Jerry Hoffmaster.
A report was read and
plans were explained by
architect Bob Bishop. The
plan was the result of a
study done at the existing N.
Market station. 86% of the
area is being used in the
asement, 72 % on the first
oor, and 91% on the
.econd floor. It was noted
that 12.8 % of the building is
in stairways and that 16 % of
the building is used to house
the engines.
Myron Hockenbury,
president, and George Stein
reported on the survey made
by Hockenbury System of
Friendship Fire Co. No. 1
concerning a possible new
building. Results of the
survey will be analyzed by
the officers of Friendship
Fire Co. along with active
firefighters and civic leaders
before a decision is reached.
Friendship Fire Co. has
always and will continue to
keep the public informed of
all activities.
Under new business, the
following motions were
made and passed:
Allot money for the
December 17 Christmas
Party at BINGO;
Allot money for turkeys
for door prizes at BINGO for
November 12;
Approve the purchase of 8
new jackets for ambulance
attendents;
Draw up an amendment
allowing for the ambulance
committee to be elected by
the company instead of
being appointed by the
president;
New members to be taken
into the department—Mary
Hoffmaster, Emergency
Medical Personnel, Earl
Koser, Social member.
Nominations for the 1976
offices were opened. Nom-
inated for the second vice
president are Galen Rutt
and Jeff Brian. Running for
chief engineer are Tom
Markley and Ken Newcom-
er. Nominated for (first
lieutenant are George Hed-
rick and Leo Shank. Dennis
Grove, Galen Rutt, and Paul
Lauver are nominated for
second lieutenant. Nomi-
nated for the entertainment
committee were Jim Mark-
eley, Don Alleman, Bill
Martin, Don Snyder, How-
ard Mott, Hubert Rice, and
Bob Ganz. Nominated dele-
gates to the county are
Christ Charles, Ron Alle-
man, and Mike Wargo.
Nominations will be open-
ed again before elections at
the December meeting.
The possible new building
was discussed under the
Good of the Company.
The meeting was ad-
journed at 10:55 p.m.

company answered an alarm
for a car fire on Route 230
. . East at. Eby .Chigues.Road.. . .
James Kotch owned the
1968 Opel. The fire in the
motor caused an estimated
$1000 in damages.
