Volunteer mothers aid in classes
Mothers of first graders
have been helping the first
grade teachers at Seiler
since school began this
year.
Mrs. Jo Anne Aument
enjoys spending one day a
week in Mrs. Dorothy
Young's classroom. The
unpaid work is tiring, and a
bit hectic at times, but very
interesting.
She says, *‘It gives you a
chance to see what's really
involved in teaching.”
Mrs. Young says, ‘‘Done-
gal School District’s philos-
ophy is individual attention
for all children. With a
Leisure Club

Joy Leisure Club Joe Scaef-
fer received a letter from the
Florin Fire Company, asking
the Leisure Club to vacate
the firehouse as a meeting
place. The letter stated that
on November 4, the Fire
Company would sign a
lease, renting the building
to the Head Start Child Care
Center on a weekly basis,
twelve months a year.

Next door, in Mrs. Eliza-
beth Baley’s class, another
volunteer was hard at work.
Mrs. George Blasick is a
teacher’s aide because,
“It’s a lot of fun.”’
One of the main jobs of all
the mothers who volunteer
is guiding the reading
groups, Mrs. Baley pointed
out.
Children listen to stories
through earphones while
they read the stories in their
workbooks.
Small groups of children
can get individual help with
their reading, while the

meeting place
stated that Hostetter’s Din-
ing Hall in Mount Joy will
be the site of the November
10 meeting. The meeting
will begin as previously
stated, at 12 noon. Contact
has been made with the
Mount Joy Sportsman As-
sociation to use their facili-
ties for future meetings.

Joycee-ettes hold skating party for children,
baby-sitting clinic; plan Bicentennial Ball
The October Joycee-ette
membership meeting was
held at the Borough Hall
and was called to order by
President Sarah Heckert.
Mrs. Sharon Funk report-
ed that the roller skating
party for the Messiah Home
children was enjoyed by
everyone who attended.
Mrs. Kathy Bower reported
that 44 girls completed the
Baby Sitting Clinic. The
directory is being printed
and should be available in a
few weeks. The completion
of the ingathering project
was reported on by Mrs.
Harriet Ney. Mrs. Joanne
Nolt and Mrs. Vickie Brown
are chairing the fall social
which will be held in a barn
this year, with games and
dancing for entertainment.
Saturday, February 7,
1976 is the date for the
Bicentennial Birthday Ball,
which will be hosted by the
Joycee-ettes. The ball will
be held at Donegal High
School. Tickets will be on
sale from November until

Stationdry order will be sent
into the company by the end

outstanding orders be turn-

A joint Jaycee and Joyce-
ette orientation for new and
prospective members will be
held November 23rd. Mrs.
Kathy Bower is chairing the
Joyce-ette portion of the
orientation. The Joyce-ettes
invite any young women
between the ages of 18 and
3S to join with them. Any

An American flag, flown
over the U.S. Capitol, the
Pennsylvania state flag, and
a Benmington Flay will be
presented by American Le-
gions Libhart-Dyer Post 197
to the Conoy Township
Bicentennial Committee and
be flown at the Haldeman
Mansion grounds. The color
guard of the Captain James
Ross Company will conduct
the flag ceremony.
Also scheduled for the
day’s events is a demon-
stration of cannon firing by
the First Conewago Light
Artillery of York.
Local dignitaries, civic
organizations, Girl Scouts,
Boy Scouts, the clergy of
Conoy Township, and Amer-
ican Legion Libhart-Dyer
Post 197 will be represented
at the Bicentennial cere-
monies.
The day’s program will
also include the dedication
of a numbered marker
indicating the historical and
architectural significance of
the Mansion. The plaque
