tection Commission.
J-Cettes plan
E-town sale
The Elizabethtown Jayce-
ettes will hold a bake sale
Sunday October 12 at the
Trading Post, Elizabeth-
town. The sale, which will
start at 10:00 a.m., will
feature cakes, pies, brown-
ies, rice crispie squares and
fresh bread, among other
tempting items.
Monies raised by the
Elizabethtown Jayceettes go
to fund community service
projects.

Obituaries
Mrs. Nathan Kendig
Mrs. Annie L. Kendig,
90, of Bainbridge, died
Tuesday night at Lancashire
Hall in Neffsville following
an illness of two months.
She was the widow of
Nathan S. Kendig.
Daughter of the late
Albert and Laura Lemuel
Walters, she was born in
Germany.
She was a member of St.
Luke’s Lutheran Church,
Bainbridge.
Mrs. Kendig is survived
by a daughter, Laura, wite
of Benjamin F. Myers,
Bainbridge; a son Nathan
W., of Kenneth Square; six
grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Rev. H. E. Kettering,
Reading, Dies at 72
The Rev. Harvey E.
Kettering, of 1306 Museum
Road, Wyomissing, former-
ly a pastor at a number of
Lancaster County churches,
died Thursday at 2:45 p.m.
at Reading Hospital. He
was 72.
Rev. Kettering, pastore of
visitation at First Evangeli-
cal Congregational Church,
Reading, had been in the
ministry S0 years.
. Between 1938 and his
retirement from regular
pastorates two years ago,
Rev. Kettering served the
following Lancaster County
churches: Maytown Evan-
gelical Congregational
Church, East Petersburg
Evangelical Congregational
Church and Grace Evangeli-
cal Congregational Church,
Ephrata.

The Marietta Youth Ath-
letic Association will meet
on Thursday, October 9, at
7:30 p.m. in the Marietta
Community House.
Paper drive
& bake sale

Maytown Boy Scouts will
hold a Bake Sale and Paper
Drive on Saturday, October
18, 1975. The Bake Sale will
be held in front of Shank’s
Store, Maytown Square at
8:00 a.m.
This will be the last paper
drive, as the Boy Scouts are
discontinuing this project.

for Hollinger
J. Richard Hollinger of
Catherine St., Rohrerstown,
has been promoted to
Assistant General Credit
Manager of The SICO
Company of Mount Joy, Pa.
The appointment was
announced today by SICO
president, Robert P. McGin- .
ley.
The promotion followed
extensive experience in the
sales field with the James A.
Weaver Co., Lancaster.
Hollinger is a former part-
ner in Hollinger’s Food
Market.
He has recently comple-
ted advanced study with the
International Accountants
Society, Inc., of Chicago, Ill.
He serves, also, as Fire
Chief of the Rohrerstown
Fire Department.

Rev. Robert Murphy to speak
to Lanco Historical Society
Rev. Mr. Robert C.
Murphy will present an
illustrated lecture, ‘‘Coloni-
al Donegal,” at the monthly
meeting of the Lancaster
Historical Society at 8 p.m.,
Tuesday, October 14.
The minister for the past
two years at the Donegal
Presbyterian Church,
Mount Joy, the Rev. Mur-
phy formerly had served as
associate pastor for the
Sharon Community Presby-
terian Church, Corapolis,
Pa., and as assistant minis-
ter at the Derry Presbyter-
ian Church, Hershey, Pa.
He received his under-
graduate degree from Drex-
el University and his mas-
ter’s degree of divinity from

A training session for 4-H
leaders will be held Tues-
day; October 28. at 1 to 3
p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at
the Farm and Home Center
in Lancaster.
Mrs. Arlene Miller will
teach the basics of quilting,
Scherenenitte (paper
cutting) and pin pricking.
Leaders should bring a
small pair of sharp, pointed
scissors to the session.

pilgramage to Ulster, Ire-
land, in commemoration of
the 300th birthday of the
Mother Church in Donegal.
Locally, the Donegal
Presbyterian Church, rep-
resenting the historic seat of
Scot-Irish settlement in Lan-
caster County, is famed for
its American Revolutionary
War oath of allegiance to the
patriot cause.
A social hour with light
refreshments will follow the
free public meeting. There

will meet at 6:30 p.m. on
October 29 at the Farm and
Home Center.
After the business meet-
ing, the Council will go to
