ST. MARK’S TO OBSERVE
WORLD COMMUNION
There will-be two services
of worship at St. Mark’s
United Methodist Church,
27—29 East Main Street,
Mount Joy, on Sunday,
October S, 1975.
At the 8 a.m. service
worshippers will receive the
Holy Communion at the
altar rail of the church.
Special music will be sup-
plied by Baritone Michael
Kohler, who will sing
Malotte’s ‘‘Lord’s Prayer’’.
At the regular Worship
Hour (10:15) the Chancel
Choir will direct the congre-
gation through an unusual
Service of Communion. The
elements will be distributed
to worshippers in the pews.
The pastor will begin a
month-long series of ser-
mons on the overall theme,
*“Catch the Wesleyan Spir-
it’’. The message will be
entitled ‘“The World as a
Parish’.
New members will be
received into church fellow-
ship at the 10:15 hour. Adult
baptism will precede the
membership reception.
The Lord’s Table is open
to all who confess Christ as
Savior and Lord.
Gospel music
Sat., Oct. 18
by Hazel Baker
Marietta Fire Company #1
will sponsor a Gospel
Concert at the Riverview
Elementary School on Sat-
, urday, October 18, at 7 p.m.
Featured entertainers will
be The Schirmers, The
Chosen Ones, Churchmen
and Teresa,and the Joyful
Noise. Tickets can be
purchased from Firemen or
at the Blue Note Motor Inn
or by calling 426-1622.
The Joyful Noise current-
ly consists of five members,
each one a dedicated Chris-
tian. Organized in 1971 as a
five piece instrumental-vo-
cal family, the group com-
posed of four brothers
(Winters) and a cousin(Ruth
Engel) from the Annville
area, has undergone various
personnel changes. Now,
since one brother has
departed, Vickie Yohn is at
the piano.
The group’s first album,
released in 1973, is entitled
“More Than a Man”. A
second record was released
in December, 1973 and a
third was issued in August
of this year.
The group’s musical style
ranges from church hymns
and southern gospel to the
exciting contemporary
sounds in gospel music.
Although the gospel mes-
sage is always clear, the
style is varied to fit the
musical tastes of a varied
audience.
