Needlework Guild’s ingathering, Oct. 28, 29 in Mount Joy

Dates for the annual
ingathering and distribution
for the Mount Joy Chapter,
Needlework Guild of Ameri-
ca, were set for October 28
and 29, in St. Marks United
Methodist Church, Mount
Joy. The planning session
was held at the home of the
president, Mrs. Simeon
Horton.
The directors’ meeting is
scheduled at 2 p.m. and a
Girl Scout Tea at 4 p.m. on
October 28. Ingathering will
be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
while distribution will also
start at 8:30 a.m. The public
is invited to view the items
from 2 to 4 p.m. on the 28th.
Mrs. Horton, conducted
the business meeting and
read a letter from the
National Presidént, Mrs.
Mary E. Thompson, offering
her best wishes and a
message from Gerald Ford,
President of the United
States, congratulating the
organization on its 90th
anniversary.
Three new directors were
introduced:Mrs. Ann Elvin,
Mrs. Wilma LeVin and Mrs.
Daniel Wolgemuth. Miss
Ruth Eby was appointed
treasurer after the resigna-
tion of Mrs. Melvin Weaver.
A note from the former
president, Mrs. Sam Bals-
baugh, was read thanking
the members for her fare-
well gift. The committee
chairpersons presented re-
ports.

Rev. Robert Murphy addresses the Farm Women’s Society

met in the home of Mrs.
Patsy Warfel, 812 W. Main
St., Mount Joy, Sept. 20 at
2 p.m. Mrs. Grace Bixler,
president, was in charge of
the meeting. Group singing
was led by Miss Anna Mae
Eby. Rev. Robert Murphy,
pastor of the Donegal
Presbyterian Church was
the special speaker. Lives
are enriched when energies
are spent in proper areas,
Rev. Murphy said.
Miss Mary Grace Martin
was in charge of devotional
time. She read from Psalm
104. She also read several
original poems about au-
tumn. Numerous health
suggestions came from the
ladies in response to Roll
Call. Thirty members and
two visitors were present.
Sec. Mary Grace Martin
read the minutes of the
earlier meeting. Elizabeth
Shuman gave the Treasur-
er’'s Report. Notes and
expressions of appreciation
for flowers given while in
the hospital ,were given by
Grace Bixler, and Ruth
Musser during her time of
bereavement. Mrs. Mary
Reist also expressed thanks
for flowers.
The Ways and Means
Committee will be respon-
sible for a stand at Home-
makers Day, November 13,
at the Farm and Home
Center. Mrs. Kathryn Erb
reported on the entertain-
ment of guests at Conestoga
View in August. Wednes-

General Hospital.
Special recognition was
made of one member who
was one of 18 in Pennsyl-
vania to recieve a special
medal recently—she is 90
years old.
The nominating commit-
tee reported the acceptance
of the following names for
duty in the new year:

slow.
The next meeting will be
held in the Chiques United
Methodist Church, Mount
Joy, R#2. Society #25 will be
entertained and Lester Hos-
tetter will be speaking on
““Chrysanthemums.’’
Homeowners
hold picnic
The third annual Chickies
Homeowners Association
picnic was held on Sunday,
September 21 at Circle
Creek Farm with 32 active
members and their families
in attendance.
A covered dish meal was
followed by the election of
officers for the ’75—’76
term. Officers reelected
‘were: Dr. Robert Lombard,
president; Rev. C. Calvin
Rex, vice president; and
Mrs. Elaine Baum, secre-
tary.

showing interest in the

making a county park,
committees were organized
for telephoning and attend-
ing pertinent meetings on
the county level.
