D. Waltz of 325 E. Main St.,
Mount Joy, PA., has gradu-
ated from the Fifteenth -Air
Force Noncommissioned
Officer Leadership School at
March AFB, Calif.
Sergeant Waltz, who was
trained in military manage-
ment and supervision, is an
electronic-communications
and cryptographic equip-
ment repair specialist at
Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz.
The sergeant is a 1970
graduate of Donegal High
School.
Molly Fry tells of work as criminology intern

Molly Fry, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Fry, SS
N. Chestnut St., Marietta, is
a senior at Indiana Univer-
sity and is majoring in
criminology. Criminology,
according to Webster's Dic-
tionary, is defined as ‘‘the
scientific study of crime as a
social phenomenon, of crim-
inals, and of penal treat-
ment.”” She is currently
serving an internship with
the State Crime Commis-
sion. She is one of 35
interns selected by the
college from 65 applicants.
According to Miss Fry,
there are presently only 14
policewomen in the state
and seven in the current
class at the Academy. More
women should be in this
field. Miss Fry states,
“This is one reason I chose
this profession, and because
I'm not the type to sit
behind a desk and deal with
one class of people. In this
area I will be communica-
ting with all ages and all

make changes within the
system after graduation for
the betterment of society. If
she had to choose again,
Molly stated, she would
definitely take this course.
As in all professions at this
time, jobs are scarce in
criminology, but the needs
are there if graduates are
willing to look for a job.
Political influence has no
effect in this civil service
field. The Crime Commis-
sion enters cases when
asked by municipal or
county officials. Only a
small portion of cases can be
acted upon although intelli-
gence is compiled on many
subjects.
The main function of the
Commission is to investigate
organized crime, but it does
not prosecute.
The commission is rather
young, and it has a small
voice, but says Molly, it
will grow, and criminals will
be treated with more know-
how as time goes by.
