14, in the Florin Fire Hall.
The original plan was for an
outdoor picnic but the
weather was against this
plan, so it was held inside
the hall, and was a covered
dish picnic. The meeting
began at noon and after the
invocation by Arthur Braun,
105 members delighted
their appetites from a very
large variety of food and
many many desserts.

Report those
loud sounds
The Hearing Conserva-
tion Center will be conduc-
ting a study of environmen-
tal noise levels in Lancaster
County beginning in
August.
The center, a United Way
agency, will be using
portable equipment at vari-
ous sites throughout the city
and county to measure
sound levels of recreational,
transportation, and other
non-occupational noises.
Any individual who knows
of a particular noise source
which should be included in
this testing program can
contact the agency office at
630 Janet Ave. Phone -
397-4741.
Tom Yatsko, Hearing
Conservation Center consul-
tant said ‘‘Most industries
have recognized and are
trying to control their noise
problems. But there are still
many other sources of noise
pollution which we would
like to identify.”’
He added that many such
noise sources have not yet
been surveyed. ‘‘It would
be wise to learn the levels of
these noises since excess-
ively high levels can cause
hearing losses’’ he said.
