Kathy Konevitch, 226

will be playing in ‘The
Apple Tree,”’ a three-part
production by the Manheim
Little Theatre to be presen-
ted in the auditorium of
Manheim Central High
School at 8 p.m. Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday of this
week.
Kathy will appear as a
handmaiden in the chorus in
“The Lady and the Tiger’’
and as an adoring fan in
‘‘Passionelle.”’
This is Kathy’s fifth
season with the Manheim
theatrical group. She
played leads in ‘‘Funny
Thing Happened on the
Way to the Forum’ and
“South Pacific’ (she was
Bloody Mary).
Probably her most me-
morable performance in
Manheim was in ‘“‘Gypsy,”’
in which she was one of
three strippers appearing on
a platform projecting from
the stage into the audience,
singing ‘‘You gotta have a
gimmick.”
One stripper’s gimmick
was flash cubes spread on
her costume and wired to go
off in the darkened auditor-
ium, creating a wild and
enthusiastic response from
the audience.
As a result of her
performance in ‘‘Gypsy”
she won roles in shows put
on by the Columbia Little
Theatre. She played in
“Plain Betsy,’’ written by
Marian Weaver.
Kathy also appeared in
“Funny Girl’’ at the Fulton
in Lancaster, sponsored by
Kiawanis and was selected
for Seroma’s ‘‘Fiddler on
the Roof,”” but could not
play because of conflicting
dramatic assignments.
Kathy is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Swarr of
Mount Joy, R. D. 1. She
attended Manheim Central
High School as a resident of
Rapho Township and made
her theatrical debut there in
“Bye Bye Birdie.”
She attended Millersville
State College, where she is
now employed as a secretary
and also a school for medical
secretaries.
She is secretary of the
‘Manheim Little Theatre and
states that everyone in the
cast of ‘‘The Apple Tree’’ is
working together well, that
they are ‘‘closely knit’’ as
time for the opening tomor-
row night approaches, and
that ‘‘we all have confidence
in ourselves.’
