William W. Young, Jr.
Bill Young wins Dr’s. degree
by Hazel Baker
William W. Young, Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. William
Young, Heller Church Road,
Leola, former residents of
Marietta, has earned his
PHD degree from Washing-
ton University, St. Louis,
Missouri. While attending
the University, Young ma-
jored in Immunology Re-
search and cancer research.
A graduate of Donegal
High School in 1961, Young
was awarded his Bachelor of
Science Degree from Duke
University and served five
years in the United States
Submarine Division aboard
a Nuclear Sub.
Future plans include
study under a famous
Japenese Doctor in Seattle,
Washington, where he plans
to reside with his wife Carol
and son ‘“Willie.”’

Bicentennial Committee

The first Thursday of each
month has been established
as the official meeting night
of the Marietta, Maytown,
and East Donegal Bicenten-
nial Committee. The group
voted to change the night at
its regular July session held
in the Marietta Community
House. Dennis Shumaker,
president conducted the
meeting and reappointed
Pat Abel as marker chair-
man, Barbara Elliot as arts
and crafts chairman and
Ralph Miller as public
relations chairman.
Maytown will have an

open house tour on Septem-
ber 14, from 1:30 to 6 p.m.
Vivian Carroll and Robert $88
Cresswell are co-chairman
of the Community Spirit Sees
Committee. a
Marietta will sponsor a}
walking tour to Chiques §
Rock on Sunday, September £8
21, 1975. Dr. John Brown in
chairman of that event.
The three municipalities ¥
of the area will sponsor a
contest for door decorations
for the July 4, bicentennial
celebration. Crosswalks,
fireplugs, etc. will be
painted in the bi-centennial
theme.

Old-fashioned threshing
Drama will be re-enacted
this Saturday at 1 p.m. on
farm of Amos Nolt, S. Jacob
St., Mount Joy.

ago on farm of Jay Stauffer.
