177 graduates at

One hundred and
seventy-seven Donegal
High School seniors re-
ceived diplomas last
Tuesday at commencement.
Two students received six
awards each.
Mary Alice Heilman won
the Charles J. Bennet
College Preparatory award;
the English award; the G.
Walter Sloan Science award;
the Valedictorian award; the
Bausch & Lomb Science
award; and a Commended
National Merit Scholarship
certificate.
William A. Landis won
the Donegal Mutual Insur-
ance Company Mathematics
award; a Math Association
of America pin; the Delta
Mu Sigma award; a
wrestling award plaque; and
a senior athletic award.
Landis also was a National
Merit Scholarship Finalist.

the Ramon A. Sell Music
Memorial award; the
Charles W. Heaps Art
Scholarship award; the
V.F.W. Citizenship award;

Scott Stark won an AMS
Proficiency Certificate for
math and a Senior Athletic
Award. Sheri L. Zerphey

was presented with the
Mount Joy Lions Club
award and the Lancaster
County Bankers Association
Future Business Leaders of
America award.

cal award.

Women’s Club Scholarship.

presented to Mark Presnell.
The Clerical award was
presented to Jody Marie
Ney. Michael Sweeney won
the Urban League of
Lancaster County Inc. Youth
award.
SERVICE AWARDS
Christine Erb won the
New Holland Community
Service award.
Marlene Kay Hess was
another double winner. She
won the Farm and Home
Foundation of Lancaster
County Scholarship; and an
American Youth Foundation
Citizenship award.
The Mount Joy Joycee-
ettee Scholarship was
awarded to Jayne B.
Greiner. John P. Weidman
won the Pioneer Hi-Bred,
Inc. College Scholarship
award.
Judy Keller won a
Donegal Booster Club’s
School Spirit award. The
Charles W. Heaps Memorial
Tennis Trophy was pre-
sented to David Schlosser.
Sonya Smith was named the
outstanding typist in the
senior class.

May 20--Army Specialist
Five Dennis C. McNece, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman C.
McNece, 33 East High St.,
Maytown, Pa., completed a
cooking course here.
He learned how to pre-
pare and serve food in Army
dining halls and in the field.
Jennings flies
again
Barbara Fellenbaum Jen-
nings will participate in
another speed race for light
airplanes on July Fourth.
This will be the 28th
Powder Puff Derby which
follows a 2,591 mile course
through Phoenix, Arizona,
Boyne Falls, Michigan, and
points in between.
