Glossbrenner
plans camp
June 15 is a special day
for. Glossbrenner United
Methodist Church, Mount
Joy. Thirty-nine children,
youth, and adults from the
church, who will be sharing
in a week of summer camp
will be commissioned in the
9:30 morning worship ser-
vice.
The annual Church Picnic
will be held at Sico Park
beginning at 11:00 a.m..
There will be no Church
School session this day. The
picnic dinner will begin at
11:45. Afterwards, there
will be games for the
children led by their church
school teachers. Adults and
youth will share in several
games and volleyball and
baseball. Cake walks and a
tug-of-war will involve all at
1:45. Volleyball and base-
ball games will continue for
those who want more
exercise.
Persons are invited to
come to the morning wor-
ship service dressed for the
picnic. In case of rain, the
picnic will be held in the
church’s Fellowship Hall.

Betty Jane Rutter
Detz-Rutter betrothed
Mr. and Mrs. James Rutter,
R.D.#1 Columbia, announce
the engagement of their
daughter, Betty Jane
Rutter, to Arthur Detz,
Moose Apts, Elizabethtown.
Both are graduates of
Donegal High School. Detz
is the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Quin Detz Sr. and is
employed with Byers
Bakery, Elizabethtown. A
September weeding is
planned.

is graduated
Ft. Polk, La. (ATHNCO)

N. Leto, son of Mr. and Mrs.
i Peter Leto, 25 Pajill Drive,
= Marietta, Pa.,
completed
nine weeks of advanced
individual training at the
t U.S. Army Infantry Training
i Center, Ft. Polk, La.
He received general
training as a light weapons
* infantryman and as a mortar
and recoilless rifle crew-
man, in addition to
specialized weapons instruc-
tion.
He also was taught the
proper use of high
explosives and the place-
ment, detection and dis-
arming of mines.
Teamwork was empha-
sized while he learned to
work as a member of a rifle
squad, mortar squad or
direct fire section. [Each
team member completed the
training well qualified to
perform other jobs in case of:
casualties.

Cubs picnic
Mount Joy Cub Scouts
Pack 136, Den 4 and 6,
under the leadership of
Robert and Ann Mark had a
picnic at SICO Park, follow-
ed by a game of baseball.
Den 2 and 4 also had a picnic
and got some fishing in
under the leadership of
Carolyn Waltz and Edna
Wolf. Coming events for
the Scouts include a trip to
Washington, D.C. on June
17, meets at Seiler School,
and overnight campout July
18 and 19, and a trip to
Valley Forge

7:00a.m.), and overnight

Kenneth Good and Mr. and
Mrs. Oxford.
