Bill Sload Pres. of Marietta Jaycees New officers were install- ed at the Marietta Jaycees banquet held at Mr. Lacy’s Lounge, Last Saturday: William Sload, president; Donald Simmons, internal vice-president; Rich Sload, external director; Tom La- vin, state director Jim Yeaglin, ways and means director; Ron Morris, Sec- retary; Don Pickle, treasur- er; Richard Smedley Jr., chairman of the board; P. Michael Sload, past presi- dent installed his brother as president and then the additional officers. Outgoing president Rick Smedley made the following presentation: external pro- ject of the year award to Bill Sload for the ecology project and internal project of the year to Ed Flanagan for Past Presidents Banquet night project. C. Willis Herr received the internal chairman award for the Chapter Newsletter. The ways and means award went to Ron Morris for his Bicentennial Plate Project. The internal chairman award was presented to P. Michael Sload for last years’ chairmanship of the Stay-at Home Fourth of July Cele- bration. Two Presidential awards were won by Jay Risser and Gary Kline for assistance to the president and for partic- ipation in many of the year’s activities. The Key Man award was captured by Don Simmons for recognition for outstanding service. Ron Morris received the 1st year Jaycee award for his partici- pation in projects of the past year. The Jaycee of the year recognition, voted by the membership, for the second time, was presented to Bill Sload for his dedication to the chapter and all its activities. Outgoing president Smedley listed some Jaycee Accomplishments during his term:electrical service in- stalled in the school building by members, a Past Presi- dent’s Banquet to honor former leaders, the ecology project conducted at the former elementary school, and the Bicentennial plate series project; the largest fireworks display at a two day 4th of July celebration. Smedley expressed his gratitude to the membership for its support. : Incoming president, Bill Sload, in his remarks for plans for the year ahead mentioned his desire for overall good programing to continue in the community and chapter; improvement of the internal J.C. pro- graming for members’ own development; keeping the community better informed for better relations; and 100 percent improvement of the school as a recreation center and headquarters of the group by November. C. Willis Herr was toast- master for the evening. The speaker was Mr. Grant ““Tic’” Hurst using the topic “Development of a Sense of Humor.” A special award of a life membership in the Marietta Jaycees in appreciation of his past service to the chapter, was presented to Mike Sload. The past president has moved with his family from the area. Marietta J-C’s honor wrestlers “4 LHS Ab ".. A committee . with Ronald Morris as chairman made arrange- ments to present a suitable trophy.
