Hazel Crankshaw, poet-
tess, historian, and religious
leader from Maytown, has
come up with an idea that
may spread across the
country.
At this time of the
Bicentennial, Mrs. Crank-
shaw is grateful ‘‘ for the
privilege of living in our
great nation;’’ she also feels
some ‘‘concern for the
future of our country.’’
The outcome of her
mingled gratitude and con-
cern is a ‘‘Bicentennial
Prayer Crusade.”
‘“Vietnam,’’ she says,
‘has shown how easily our
country can be torn apart
and the abuse of power as
demonstrated by the
Watergate affair has shown
how quickly and terribly our
nation can flounder, even
fall. Both events have
pointed out the the need of
prayer for rulers in high and
not so high places.”’
A slogan, ‘‘Circle our
country with PRAYER,’ has
been set in an emblem
surrounding the United
States. The emblem was
drawn by Henry Schlosser of
Marietta.
The emblem has been
printed on post cards and
stickers that can be placed
