hold their Installation of
Officers and Awards Ban-
quet at Mr. Lacy’s Lounge on
Saturday, May 17.

who is known locally as one

Lancaster County.
Music for dancing will be
provided by the Fat Cats
and, for any hardy souls who
are still ready to go when the
music ends at 2 ‘a.m.,
breakfast will be served at
the Etownian Restaurant.,
Mt. Joy golfers’ tournament
The Mount Joy Golf
Association is holding its
first tournament at the
Fairview Course in Quentin
on May 25.
It will be a full handicap
tournament and is sponsored
by Johnson’s Bus Service.

Dr. Schlosser to be honored
Lancaster County alum-
ni of Elizabethtown College
plan to honor Dr. Ralph W.
Schlosser as a ‘‘Distinguish-
ed Lancaster County Alum-
nus’’ at a dinner in his honor
on Saturday, May 17.
According to John D.
Vogle of Lancaster, a chapter
spokesman, the dinner will
be held at the Brethren
Village, where Dr. Schlosser
and his wife now live. It
begins at 6 p.m. and is open
by reservation to alumni and
friends of the College.
Dr. Schlosser has been
associated with Elizabeth-
town since 190S as a student,
teacher and administrator.
He was a teacher from
1906 to 1927, dean of
instruction from 1922 to
1927, and president from
1928 to 1941 when, at his
own request, he relinquished
the presidency to return to
the classroom.
There, he remained until
the spring of 1970, although
he was given the title of
President; Emeritus in 1962.
In 1971, Dr. Schlosser
published a history of the
institution, ‘‘History of Eli-
zabethtown College 1899-
1970, a project under-
written by the - Women’s
Auxiliary.
Dr. Ralph W. Schlosser is
the father of Dr. David E.
Schlosser of Mount Joy.

the Annual Educational Se-
cretaries Conference held at
The Pennsylvania State Uni-
versity, University Park, Pa.,
May 1 - 3, were Mrs. Lillian
Fry, Mrs. Virginia McKenna
and Miss Patricia Wolfe of
Marietta and Mount Joy,
Secretaries in the Donegal
School District.
The conference, a continu-
ing education service of The
Pennsylvania State Univer-
sity, was open to all persons
engaged in secretarial and
clerical work in the field of
education. Theme of the
conference was ‘‘The Suc-
cess Intangibles for the
Secretary.” Mrs. Myrtle S.
McDowell, Personnel Mana-
ger, Rockwell International,
Pittsburgh, presented the
keynote address. Lecturers,
in addition to Mrs. McDow-
ell, included Dr. John M.
Steber (‘‘Listening’’) and
Mr. Blake D. Lewis, Jr.
(‘“*Motivation’’), Assistant
Professors of Management
Development, Penn State
University.

Miss Baker will be grad-
uated from Donegal High
School in June.
Mr. Kibler, who is em-
ployed by Armstronf Carpet
Plant, is a 1973 graduate of
Donegal High School.

Donegal school regulations

Schools has informed Par-
ents and Guardians of
Donegal Students of Stu-
dents Rights and Responsi-
bilites as follows:
Corporal Punishment:
Corporal punishment shall
be permitted in Donegal’s
schools.
Professional employees
shall use such punishment
with discretion.
This punishment shall be
administered with a flat
surface directed toward the
buttocks of a student, by a
member of the professional
staff with another staff
member witnessing the act.
Any professional staff
member administering cor-
poral punishment must file a
written report to the admini-
strator who is his/her im-
mediate supervisor. Included
in the report shall be the
following information:
a. name of student
b. date
corporal
punishment
c. time of day
d. nature of offense
e. name and signature of
person administering
punishment.
f. name and signature of
witness
Corporal punishment shall
not be administered to a
child whose parents have
notified school authorities, in
writing, that such disciplin-
ary action is prohibited.
Any professional staff
member may, however, use
reasonable force even when a
parent prohibits it, to quell a
disturbance; when it is
essential for self-defense;
when it is necessary for the
preservation of order; when
it is necessary for the
protection of other persons,
and when it is needed for the
protection of school property.
Reasonable force may also
be used to obtain possession
of weapons and other dan-
gerous objects.
