Twelve young people will
be confirmed at Glossbren-
ner United Methodist
Church, Mount Joy, on
Pentecost, May 18, in the
9:30 morning worship ser-
vice:
Susan Barbour, Teresa
Derr, Scott Hart, Penny
Hendrix, Steve Marshall,
Lisa Mummmaw, Brian Ney,
Cheri Ney, Barbara Peifer,
Hazel Rogers, Patricia
Sheetz, and Bruce Wagner.
These young people com-
pleted a two-year confirma-
tion preparation experience
which included study class-
es, worship, field trips, and
summer camping. Each
young person made a con-
fession of faith and will
assume the vows of church
membership.
They will participate in
leading the Pentecost service
including a choric reading of
the Pentecost story in Acts 2.
Special music will include
‘Go Gently through the
Years’ by Rutledge. with
Sandra Heisey as soloist,
Lisa Mummaw, flutist, and
Penny Hendrix, pianist.
Pastor Clair L. Wagner,
Jr., will preach the confir-
mation sermon entitled ‘Get
in the Groove’ based on the
disciplines of the Christian
life. The confirmands will
receive a Jerusalem cross
pendants.

a variety of musical styles,
Calypso, folk, rock, jazz and
blues, and the presentation
gives the choirs a chance to
sing, shout, play kazoos, and
snap fingers.
Throughout the production
valuable lessons of life are
presented with convincing

what you learned at home.”
‘‘Yes, we know when to say
no.”” “Now, God takes care
of those who trust and we
know God will care for us.”
The musical written by
Buryl Red and Grace Haw-
thorne has received acclaim
from public school educators,
church music leaders and
parents. They praise ‘‘Cool. .
" for tunes that are ‘‘catchy
and fresh, text that is clever
but real. . .;” appealing to
young and old alike. The
story of the three Hebrew
children is handled ‘“‘in a
humorous way without losing
the sense of reverence. . .”
In the local performance,
the part of Daniel, the
narrator, will be played by
Newton Kendig, and Keith
Gephart will be King Ne-
buchadnezzar. Shadrach will
be played by Scott Hoover,
Meshach by Duane Musser,
and Abednego by Craig
Lehman. Other speakers in
the musical will be Jennifer
Kohler, Margaret Endslow,
Tracee Gotwalt, and Angel
Secrest. The Autoharp ac-
companiment will be played
by Michael Kohler.
ST. JOHN‘S EPISCOPAL
CHURCH
In addition to the regular
service held at St. John’s
Episcopal Church on Rega-
tion Sunday, May 4, there
were four baptisms. The new
members of the church are
Christopher Andrew Frank
Laughery, Chad Eric Barto,
Shawn Michael Barto and
Charles Russell Arnold. The
parish celebrated the bap-
tisms with a reception and
coffee hour following the
morning service.
The mothers of the parish
were honored by the men of
the church with a Mother-
Daughter Breakfast given in
their honor on ‘‘Mother’s
Day.’’ .
Members of the church are
reminded to reserve June 22
for the annual Parish Picnic.
