The Bicentennial Cele- bration is already underway. While it tends to be viewed as a national and colonial event, it should also be a celebration for the enjoyment and memory of our whole community. We have a full, diversified heritage, not only nationally, but locally as well. The Marietta—May- town—East Donegal com- munity area is fortunate in containing a history richly reflectin the past, threading its way into the present. It is with this theme of celebrating our past through the present that the Bicen- tennial Committee was formed. The purpose of the Committee is to assist in orienting established events and special programs toward a Bicentennial theme, not to draw up guidelines on how the community should cele- brate. Neither is it the intent An awards program to recognize outstanding ener- gy conservation efforts by its industrial and commer- cial customers has been an- nounced by Pennsylvania Power & Light Company.
