Class of ‘40
banquet
The class of 1940 of the
former Maytown High
School observed its 35th
| year since graduation with
a reunion at Lacy’s Lounge,
Marietta, Saturday night.
Mrs. Herbert Sarver, a
former teacher at Maytown
| was the speaker for the
occasion. Comparing hap-
penings, prices and quotes
of 1940 and 1975, Mrs.
Sarver’s presentation enter-
tained the 26 class members
and guests who attended.
John Hoffman, Maytown,
served as master of cere-
monies, Lester Roland of-
fered the Invocation, Mrs.
Leslie Blake read the min-
utes of the 30th reunion
which was held at Hos-
tetter’s Banquet Hall. Mem-
bers attending were from
Gerogia and California.
Prizes of silver dollars
were awarded to members
who gave correct answers
*to a quiz prepared by Mrs.
John Denney, Jr. The win-
ners were Barbara Geyer,
Dick Yohn, Bill Mundorf,
Nellie Blake, Evelyn Fike
Breneman and Bill deCarl-

“ganization held election of
~ officers at their March meet-
ing. The new officers are:
President, John Leas; Vice
President, Earl Hutchison;
Secretary, Charles Kraus;
Treasurer, Fran Drace; in
charge of public relations,
Kay Fry.

Cub Scouts win Derby awards
Awards night was obser-
ved by Marietta Cub Scout
Troop at the regular session
in the Community House
Gym. Pinewood Derby tro-
phy’s were given to Thomas
Flowers, David Moyer, Larry
Halterman, Everett Nagel,
David Deitrick, Larry Gil-
bert, Daniel Deitrich.
Robert Blevins won the
Athlete and Citizen; Robert
Flanagan, artist and citizen
and engineer; PAtrick Hal-
terman, naturalist; Steve
Shireman, artist, citizen,
craftsman, forestor, geolo-
gist, naturalist, outdoors-
man, sportsman, traveler,
engineer, scholar, scientist,
showman and arrow of light.
Two cross overs were
conducted. One with Troop
No. S0 having Patrick Hal-
terman going into boy scouts
and one with Troop No. 93
with Robert Flanagan, Steve
Shireman and John Witmer
going into that troop. Tho-
mas Flowers flew up to
Webelos.

Dish towels and cloths will
be sold by the Cubs starting
May 10 and on May 17 the
scouts will visit the Pennsyl-
vania State Police Barracks
in Lancaster.

HONORED


Bill Martin, Mount Joy,
was honored by the coaches
and teammates for his work
in the athletic department
at the DuBois Campus. The
award was presented at the
Athletic Banquet honoring
the athletes of the DuBois
Campus.
