“Revere” in Maytown
Paul Revere rode through
Maytown Elem. School sev-
eral weeks ago. Mr. Strine’s
fourth grade class presented
a play “Paul Revere” for
the entire school. The char-
acters were portrayed by
Crystal Sweigart, Patty
Mann, Jennifer Eno, Angie
Fry, Sally Heinaman, Cheryl
Poston, Carol Gerlach, Jeff
Hess, John Yohe, Marc Hoo-
ver, George Cizauskas, John
Witmer, Joey Wilson, and
Andy Pietsch. The partici-
pants wore authentic cos-
tumes researched, designed
and made by Mrs. White’s
sixth grade.
Jonathan Swab, Jodie
Stotz, Kim Noll, Yvonne
Sweitzer, Tammy Moore,
and Donna Watto, painted
the scenery.
April, 1975 marks the
200th anniversary of this
American’s famous ride and
the play was part of the Bi-
centennial programs being
conducted at the school.
A poster contest was held
last week, sponsored by Mrs.
White’s sixth grade, with
the entire school participat-
ing. Judges for the con-
test ‘were Miss Marian Hei-
sey, Art Instructor; Mrs.
Mary Holtzman, third grade
teacher; Eugene Saylor,
principal; and Sharon Long
and Donna Hay, sixth grad-
ers.
Winners were: Kinder-
garten - Jennifer Russell,
2nd Scott Carl; Grade 1 -
John Biesecker, 2nd J. Ho-
ward Gilmartin; Grade 2 -
Amy Winters, 2nd Mary
Gutshall; Grade 3 - Jeff

The Mount Joy Welcome
Wagon met Wednesday,
April 23, at the Mount Joy
Legion for their monthly
dinner meeting. After a
scrumptuous supper, Mrs.
Doris Thomas of the Pa. Ex-
tension Office presented the
club with some very good
household hints and energy
savers.
Elections were also held
and here are the results:

Installation of the new
officers will be held May 21
at 6:30 p.m. in the Mount
Joy Legion. It will be a
formal affair and husbands
are invited.
On Saturday, May 3, at
8 p.m. the club will meet at
Clearview Lanes for a fun-
filled night of bowling.
Bring your husband or some
friends, but please let Lois
Phalen know in advance so
reservations can be made.
Crafts will meet at Sharon
Oldfather’s May 1, at 8 p.m.
The group will be doing
crewel or quilling - or bring
whatever you like.
