FOOD DRIVE ON AT
ST. MARK'S U. M.
CHURCH
An ambitious program
to provide massive food re-
lief to the poor and hungry
of South Philadelphia is un-
derway at St. Mark’s United
Methodist Church, 27-29 E.
Main St., Mount Joy. The
impetus for the action was
a letter from Southside Cen-
ter, a United Methodist:
congregation and commun-
ity center on South Street
in the city of Philadelphia,
appealing for immediate
help in their food distribu-
tion program. Many people
are going hungry because
they must be turned away
for lack of provisions at the
Center.
St. Mark’s Church, which
provided three truckloads of.
food from its Harvest Home
collection in the fall of ‘74,
wants to do even more this
time for the needy of the
city. In its present plans it
is seeking to raise at least
$1,000 to supply large quan-
tities of potatoes, flour, and
canned goods. Sources of
supply have been located.
Members of the church will
help prepare 10 tons of po-
tatoes in 20 1b. bags. Flour
will be put into 10 lb. bags
at a local mill. Some 65
cases of canned goods have.
been ordered locally.
Contributions are being
sought in the church and in
the community toward this
large-scale program of relief
The target date is April 20,
1975. On that date a tractor
trailer will deliver the aid to
South Philadelphia for fur-
ther referral through agen-
cies that will be set up to
help those in need.

BRETHREN CHOIRS TO
PERFORM CANTATAS
Two choirs of the Eliza-
bethtown Church of the
Brethren, 777 South Mount
9 Joy Street, Elizabethtown,
will present a program of
Easter music in the church
sanctuary on April 13, at
7:30 p.m.
The adult choir will sing
one of J. S. Bach’s best
known cantatas, “Christ
Lay In Death’s Dark Prison.”
This piece is based on a text
by Martin Luther with vari-
ations on a choral theme.
The sixth, seventh and
eighth grade choir will sing
another cantata with an Eas-
ter theme, “The Sower and
The Seed,” which celebrates
new life springing from the
earth. David Myers will ac-
company both choirs on the
organ.

SALE AND AUCTION
The Men’s Association
of Donegal Presbyterian
Church, Mount Joy, pre-
sents the first Annual Spring
Sale and Auction at the old
school grounds, Donegal
Springs Road, Saturday,
April 12, beginning at 10
a.m.
Many interesting bargains
will be sold or placed on
the auction block. These
include an RCA Color Tele-
vision, Chest Freezer and the
old organ from Donegal
Church. Also some long
play albums of the Incredi-
ble Years 1968 and 1969,
other records, household
appliances, articles of cloth-
ing and many other items
too numerous to mention.
Come and make a full
day of fun, fellowship and
good food. Food will be
provided by the Women’s
Association of Donegal
Church.
Proceeds! will be used in
the restoration of the Study
House on the church
grounds.
