Page 6 — SUSQUEHANNA BULLETIN Awards to Legion Aux. The regular monthly meeting of the Maytown American Legion Auxiliary was held Monday, March 10, at the home of Mrs Chester Yordy. The highlight of the meeting was the presen- tation of a plaque and pin to Mrs. Norman Leas, South River Street, Maytown. Mrs. Chester Yordy, represen- tative of the Volunteer Services of Coatesville Veterans Hospital, presented the award to Mrs. Leas for the many hours of service she has given as a volunteer at the hospital. Mrs. Ben Stark, Elizabethtown, another award recipient, was unable to attend the meeting. Mrs. Henry Haines gave an indepth report on the upcoming Americanism program to be held at the old Legion home April 14 at 8 p.m. Winners of an essay contest sponsored by the auxiliary for high school seniors will be read. W.W. Loose will speak and music will be supplied by the music department of Donegal High School. The public is invited to attend. A report was submitted by Mrs. Carl Shenk, foreign relations chairman, on Indonesia. Indonesia is the country chosen this year for the Auxiliary’s foreign relations project entitled, “Build A Future.” The project includes the donation of funds to help build schools in undeveloped sections of Indonesia. Plans for the 13th annual flea market, to be held Memorial Day, May 26, were discussed: The auxiliary will sponsor a food stand at the event. Eleven dealers have already made their reservations for the show which places the total ahead of last year’s for this time. Mrs. George McConnell, Mrs. Henry Haines and Mrs. Robert White were ap- pointed to the nominating committee to select can- didates for offices for the coming year. The voting for these offices will take place at the May meeting. Apple butter sale The Marietta Jaycees will hold their annual Apple Butter Sale on Sunday. March 23. Jaycees will be selling door to door in Marietta. LANC. CO. FIREMEN'S AUXILIARY TO MEET The monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Lancaster County Firemen’s Association will be held on Wednesday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Manheim Fire Company. All mem- bers are urged to attend, COLUMBIA HOSPITAL AUXILIARY MEETS A moment’s silence in memory of Miss Frances Reinhold, was observed by members of the Marietta Branch Auxiliary to the Columbia Hospital at the regular meeting at the home of Mrs. James Baker. Mrs. Maurice Sweitzer was co- hostess. Mrs. Joseph Carroll, vice- president, conducted the business session in the ab- sence of the president, Mrs. Joseph Gilmartin. A white elephant auc- tion was conducted by Mrs. Harold Drager, which netted the Auxiliary more than $50. Mrs. William Heisey read “Springtime in your Heart” and “The Legend of the Lily” as devotions. A mem- orial to Miss Reinhold was sent to the Columbia Hos- pital in her memory by the Auxiliary. Plans were made to spon- sor the second annual “Spring Safari” at the home of Mrs. Ralph Miller, Fair- view Avenue, Marietta, on Saturday, May 10, from 3 to 7 p.m. The benefit will feature a Country Store and a White Elephant booth. Workshops will be held for the event starting on Thurs- day, March 20, at 1 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Miller. Members are encouraged to attend the workshops, either bringing their projects or assisting other members. The April 14 meeting of the Auxiliary will be held at Columbia Hospital with members of the Auxiliary buying lunch in the cafe- teria. Members will leave from the home of Mrs. Joseph Carroll, 299 W.
