J. Edw. Charles has announced that he will not
be a candidate for re-election to the Donegal
School Board when he completes his present
term at the end of 1975.
For nearly a quarter century he has been a
member of the East Donegal and Donegal School
Boards, serving as a member and additionally,
for many years, as vice-president and as
president.
Charles has given much of his life to the
schools and has made a lasting impact on the
course and direction the local school system has
taken.
His devotion to the schools, their growth and
future, is one of the community’s outstanding
examples of how competent citizenry can con-
tribute to the community.
A man with ability, experience and a deep
desire to contribute to his community, Charles is
the living example of ‘‘becoming involved.” If
there are those who feel that they want to have a
part in shaping the way their community moves,
they need look no farther than Charles as a
model.
His tenure on the School Board is longer than
anyone else now a member of the board. As the
dean, his experience, background and continuity
have been of vital importance to Donegal School
District. At the end of 1975 he will have served 24
years.

Mail Rush
Mount Joy post office, like
a lot of others across the
country, is beginning to
wonder when and if the BIG
crush of Christmas mailing
is coming!
Until last weekend, ac-
tivity had been considerably
below the usual level for this
time of the season.
Postmaster Gerald
Hostetter said Monday that
Saturday and Monday
morning sale of stamps was
at a high level, hinting that
perhaps by mid-week there
would be a surge of mailings.
There has been seasonal
increase of mailings and of
receipts, but not in the
volume anticipated.
In the meantime, the local
office is ‘braced’ and ready
if a last minute rush does
develop and wili make every
effort to deliver the load.
In other years, Monday
morning of this week would
have seen a very heavy
crush of mail as people
finished their ‘‘card lists’’ on
Sunday and handed their
messages to the post office
for delivery.

Concert Sat
“Deck The ~Halls,”” a
Christmas presentation by
the Donegal high school
vocal music department,
will be given in the
auditorium Saturday, Dec.
21, beginning at 8 p.m.
Admission is free.
The program, under the
direction of Mrs. Lo Ann
Lau, will feature seasonal
numbers by the Donegal
high school Rhythm Singers,
Concert Choir, and the
Freshmen chorus.
Members of the Rhythm
