More Than 1,500
Garments Given
At Ingathering
More than 1500 garments
were collected for the annual
ingathering of the Mount Joy
Charter Needlework Guild of
America, held at St. Mark's
United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Simeon Horton was
elected president and Mrs.
Vera Newcomer, secretary.
Mrs. Ken Gainer was named
assistant secretary and Mrs.
Adam Greer and Mrs.
Melvin Weaver were re-
elected vice-president and

Donegal Neighborhood,
Penn Laurel Council of Girl
Scouts, and members of the
seven contributing troops
presented their donations
during a tea in their honor.
Mrs. Walter Brandt is
chairman of the project.
A memorial table with
garments placed in honor of
past directors was new this
year. The Guild used $50 to
purchase robes and night-
wear for children living at
Messiah home in memory of
50 past directors. Mrs. Adam
Greer and Mrs. Esther
Walters were co-chairmen of
this project.
Mrs. Gerald Sheetz,
chairman of distribution,
announced that 45 families
were investigated and 18
agencies were the recipients
of items collected.
Memorials placed in ad-
dition to the past directors
were: Mrs. Caroline
Walters,Mrs. David Eby,
Mr. and Mrs. Christian
Brandt, Mrs. Issac Morris,
Raymond Gilbert, Miss
Florence Brown, Mrs.
Mervin Brandt, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Hess, Mrs.
Myrtle Stoner and Mrs.
Bruce Wolfe Sr.
The Mount Joy chapter
includes Maytown, Marietta
and Mount Joy.
79TH BIRTHDAY
Clyde Eshleman, Poplar
street, observed his 79th
birthday Monday, Nov. 4.
For 42 years he was a men’s
clothing merchant on Mount
Joy’s Main street. Until
recently he was employed at
Martin's Clothing store,
Elizabethtown.
