Miss Jane Fryberger, Chambersburg, called on friends in town last Sunday. Miss Gertrude Shaffner and Mrs. Edward Terry, Lancaster called on your correspondent last Tuesday and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Zarfoss, N.J. called on her last Wednesday. Dr. Frank Ferguson was on a business trip to Penn State University last week. Patty Reed daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barr has enrolled at Clarion State College. Robert Frank ac- companied the Kiltie Band of York to Toronto, Canada, last week. He is their drummer. Mrs. May Hicks spent the past week and one half in N.J. with Mr. and Mrs. David Shafer and family and the Rev. Harry Shusters at Roslyn. Coverny Auyang and brother Ling, New York spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Welcomers Coverny was their ‘‘Fresh Air Girl” for several sum- mers. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Good are vacationing in Colorado. Mrs. Lillian Black, N.J. is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Mayers. i Sunday, August 25th the Fourth Annual Church Picnic of the United Church of Christ will be held at Sam Lewis Park starting with a service at 11 a.m. Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. John’s Church on Sept. 1st at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24th the El Shaddai Class of the Church of God will hold its summer picnic at Sam Lewis Park. Sept. 7 the above church will hold a picnic for the Sunday School. It is spon- sored by the young people. Robert (Peanut) Barr met with an accident at Arm- stong’s last Thursday, and had to report to the Emergency Ward of the Columbia Hospital. While there he met a former teacher who he hadn’t seen for 34 years. Harold Zarfoss, Mr. Zarfoss had also met with an accident. Wayne Peck, guest minister Community Chorus To Begin Fall Practice Sept. 3 The Mount Joy Com- munity chorus has been rehearsing during the summer months and will get into full swing for the 1974-75 season with its first fall rehearsal on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the new Fellowship Hall of Trinity Lutheran church, West Main Street. The Chorus was formed in 1971 to sing as a group for the Christmas ‘Music In The Park” program, sponsored by the Mount Joy Com- munity Council. After this appearance the group was. requested to sing for various church and community functions and decided to stay together and be known as the Mount Joy Community Chorus. The members of the chorus are interested in continuing the organization and invite anyone in the Mount Joy area and neigh- boring towns, sixteen and over, interested in music, and who enjoys singing, to join the group. : The chorus rehearses the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Church, and is under the direction of Miss Dorothy E. Schock. Mrs. Daniel Bubacz is the pianist. Officers of the chorus are: John F. Way, Jr. president; Mrs. Warren H. Heilig, public relations. KINSEY REUNION The 49th Kinsey Reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 25, at Indian Echo Caves, Hummelstown. The business meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Ralph W. Rice Promoted By R/M Ralph W. Rice, 45 Columbia Avenue, recently was promoted to assistant Mill at RM’s Friction Materials company plant in Manheim. He joined Raybestos - Manhattan, Inc., in 1939 and worked on various jobs in the factory until 1956 when he was promoted to a shift supervisor. He has served in several supervisory positions since that time. Rice, a native of Manheim, was graduated from Manheim high school in 1939 and has been a resident of Mount Joy since 1941. He is married and has a son and two daughters. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1944-46. He is past president of the Industrial Management Club, Lan- caster chapter, is a member of RM’s 30 Year Club, and has been active as a first aid instructor with the company since 1958.
