She was the wife of George H. Rosenfeld. She had lived in Salunga for 32 years and formerly resided in Mount Joy. She was a member of Chiques United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, and a member of these church organizations; WSCS, Mary's Circle, Sewing Circle, secretary of the of- ficial board, chairman of the flower committee, and Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She for- merly was a cook at Schock Presbyterian Home, Mount Jov and a number of years ago was a weaver for George Brown Sons Mills, Mount Joy. Bor'. in Mount Joy, she was a daughter of the late Darwin J. and Florence Brandt Pennell. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter Jeanne R., wife of Harry J. Krushinsky, Lititz; son, George J. Silver Spring; five grandchildren; four brothers, Alvin, Lancaster, James, Bruce and Charles Pennell; three sisters, Edna, wife of Curtis Reisch, Mrs. Hazel Clement, and Miss Florence Pennell, all of Mount Joy. Services were held from the Chiques United Methodist church Thursday afternoon, April 25, and burial was made in Risser’s Mennonite cemebery in charge of the Heilig funeral home. WILLIAM G. McGARVEY William G. McGarvey, 77, of 724 Water St., died at St. Joseph Hospital at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, April 28, after a lengthy illness. Born in Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rebecca Shaud McGarvey. McGarvey, Mount Joy; Nancy, wife of David Charles, Elizabethtown; Dora, wife of Earl Shelley, Quarryville; and Donald L. McGarvey, Mount Joy. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a brother, Peter McGarvey. Services were held Tuesday morning from the Sheetz funeral home and burial was made in the Camp Hill cemetery. IDA M. YOUNG Mrs. Ida M. Young, 83, Mount Joy R1, died Monday, April 22, at 10:15 p.m. at Village Vista Nursing Home, Lancaster, after an illness of two months. She was the widow of Harry B. Young. A life-long resident of the county, she was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Mount Joy. Born in Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Ellen Derr Hoffines. She is survivied by one daughter, Esther, wife of Warren L. Neff, Mount Joy R1. Services were held Thursday, April 25, from the Young funeral home, Lan- caster, and burial was made in Eberly cemetery, Mount Joy. MARIE W. STONER Mrs. Marie W. Stoner, 74, of 430 Donegal Springs Road., died Tuesday, April 23, at 4:15 p.m. at the home of her son J. Loyd Stoner, 466 Donegal Springs Road. Death followed an illness of six ‘months. The widow of Christian H. Stoner, who died in 1971, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Weaver Hesslet. A member of the Mount Joy Mennonite Church, she also belonged to the farm Women’s Society, the Osteopathic Hospital Guild, the Mount Joy Leisure Club, and the Elizabethtown Flower Club. Beisdes her son, she is survived by four grand- children and one great- granddaughter. Services were held from the Nissley funeral home Friday morning, April 26, and burial was made in the Kraybill cemetery. PAUL L. REHEARD Paul L. Reheard, 72, of 838 Walter St., Mount Joy, died Thursday, at 4:15 p.m. at the Suburban Retirement Home, Willow Street, where he had been a guest for two weeks. He was under the care of a physician. Born in York County, he was the son of Maggie Posey EEE NE EEE EE EEE Reheard, Willow Street, and the late Joseph W. Reheard. He was a resident of Mount Joy most of his life. After 55 years of employment, he was retired from the Bachman Chocolate Factory, where he was foreman. A member of Glossbrenner United Brethren Church, Mount Joy, he also belonged to the Florin Fire Company, Mount Joy. In addition to his mother, he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Belva, wife of Arthur Zerphy, Mount Joy; John Reheard, Nashville, Tenn.; Harry Reheard and Mrs. Mary Sprout, both of Mount Joy; Maggie, wife of John Peffley, Landisville and Evelyn, wife of William Witcones, North Highland, Calif. Miss Brenda Long Given Bridal Shower A bridal shower was held Sunday afternoon, April 28, in honor of Miss Brenda Long of Mount Joy. The shower was held at the home of Miss Long's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Witmer, Donegal Heights. Mrs. Charlotte Reinhold, Lancaster county field representative for the American Cancer Society, was guest speaker at the April meeting of the Mount Joy Business and Professional Women’s Club held at Hostetters. Explaining the services, research, education and service campaigns, Mrs. Reinhold stated one out of every three persons are now saved from cancer. All campaign funds collected are used for a phase of cancer. Mount Joy’s goal is $1,250 for the current year. The session was arranged by the Young Careerist committee with Mrs. Abram Heidman- as chairman. Sandy Heisey presented a medley of vocal songs ac- companied by Mrs. George Broske. Mrs. Gerald Sheetz, president, appointed an auditing committee: = Miss Peggy Keller, Mrs. Bruce Brown and Mrs. Helen Barto. Mrs. John Fry was elected delegate to the National convention in Chicago July 21-25. She will accompany the president, Mrs. Gerald Sheetz. Mrs. Barry KEtsell, a member of the personal development committee, introduced the girls of the months for March and April — Miss Lauralee Baker and Miss Cindy Miller. Plan ‘Spot Checks’ For Hypertension In observance of May as ‘“‘Hypertension Month,‘ Donegal high school will be making a spot check as to blood pressure among high school students, according to Mrs. Sadie Brooks, school nurse. The tests, which are voluntary, will be given on Tuesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 16, Mrs. Brooks said. CHICKEN BARBECUE The Donegal high school wrestling team will hold its annual chicken barbecue on Friday, May 10, on the parking lot in the rear of D.H.S. Tickets are available from members of the team or from the coaches at $1.60. Deliveries are available. Mrs. Dennis Fackler conducted the meeting, welcoming three prospective members and one new member. * Members were reminded of the April hoagie sale. The Scholarship committee will be selecting a college scholarship winner before the May meeting, but an- nouncement will notbe made until graduation. Trophies also have been ordered to honor two outstanding high school athletes. The Memorial Day Princess Pageant will be conducted again. Pictures of entrants will be displayed in local businesses during May and the winner will be chosen by the public at a- penny-a-vote. The princess will be crowned on May 27 at the Music in the Park program. The Joyceettes also will be holding a bake sale the morning of the Memorial Day parade, May 25, in front of Greer’’s store. Further details were also announced concerning the 75+ Banquet, to be held June 13 at Hostetters. The membership also voted to send a contribution to the Library Fund. ‘The next Joycee-ette meeting will be held at the Borough building and will be open to the public. At this meeting, on May 22, Mr. Stephen Sohonyay, executive director of the Lancaster County Bureau of Children’s Services, will speak on ‘“The Battered Child.” Following his presentation, there will be a question and answer period. After defeating the Knicks, 31 - 14, the Trotters, because they had finished first in league play, advanced with a bye in the semi-final round and went directly into the finals. The Hawks had won by forfeit from the Lakers in the first round and then clipped the Piston, 35 - 28, in the semi-finals. The Pistons, earlier had stopped the Trailblazers, 29 -18. Coaches for the teams were: Jerre Duke, Marty Cusick, Willie Heisey, Jay . Loraw, Tom Weber, Jim Shrum and Craig Johnson. Duke and Cusick also helped with the officiating.
