They were guests of Raub Supply for a one week stay in Italy. They toured the ancient city and many other nearby points of interest. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Leonard returned home Saturday from a nine-weeks visit in Puerto Rico with their daughter and her family, Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Jenkins and ten-year-old daughter, Renee, who live in Ceiba. Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins have been teaching for nine vears in the school at Roosevelt Road navy base. The Leonards visit with the Jenkins each winter, and enjoy the almost ideal weather, and the tropical climate, with an abundance of oranges, grapefruit, pineapples, etc. Mount Joy Cub Scout Pack 136 held its annual Pine Wood Derby on March 13 at the W.I. Beahm Junior High School, sponsored by Mummau’s Firestone Store. Awards were given preceeding the derby to the following Cubs: James Hendrick, Wolf; Joel Nye, Patrick Wever and John Erb, Denner; Jay Ulrich, Bobcat; Clifford Waltz Jr., Athlete, Forrester and Outdoorsman; William Brown, Craftsman, Scien- tist, Showman, Sportsman and Artist; Jon Horst, Artist, Forrester, Naturalist; Patrick Moran, Geologist. Winners in the Derby Race were: No. 1, Alan Brian, No. 2, Dean Brian, Slowpoke Race, James Grady Jr. Tom Watt awards were given to Clifford Waltz Jr., and John and William Hall, Scott Shireman, Nathan Wilson, Jeff Duke and Darrell Reisberg. Those helping with the race included Cubmaster Robert Mark, John Shireman, Jay Heller, Pat Moran and Dana Mark. Clair Mummau served as judge. Usherettes for the evening were Georgeanne Weber and Sue Dimler. Those attending Cub Scout Roundtable at Zion Lutheran Church in Landisville this month were: Robert Mark, Dana Mark, Mrs. Evelyn Duke and Mrs. Madalyn Raudabaugh. Saylor, a senior at Donegal high school has been notified that she is to be included in the eighth annual edition of ‘‘“Who’s Who Among American High School Students, 1973-74, the largest student award publication in the nation. Students from more than 20,000 public, private and parochial . high schools throughout the country are recognized for their leadership in academics, athletics, activities, or community service in the school. Less than 3 percent of the junior and senior class students nation-wide are awarded this recognition. Karen is active in Y.E.A. Club, school newspaper club, and various church ac- tivities. She also has been named Girl of the Month, National Merit Scholarship Semi-finalist, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Two At Penn State Awarded Degrees Two are students received degrees from Penn State university on Saturday, March 9, at commencement exercises held at the end of the Winter Term. When there is talk in official circles about curfew, the subject of age limits are very much part of the discussion! It needs to be understood that when these people say “17-year-old age limit” they mean that the curfew applies to all persons who are 17 years of age and under. Holds March Meet Mount Joy Friendship Fire company No. 1 held its March meeting on Thursday, the 6th, with President Ronald Alleman in charge. Twenty-three members were present. The company has decided to stay with the railroad bridge limits for its fire trucks. An order was placed for 1,000 feet of three-inch hose from Rick Shoemaker. An auction will be held Thursday, May 23, at the fire house. The company will accept anything good which can be sold. Two new members - Robert Gantz and Paul Rice - were taken into the com- pany. Chief Frank Good Jr. reported four fire calls in February with 99 men responding. One death - Grant Gebrerich - was reported. He had received a fifty-year membership pin at the February meeting. Mike Wargo reported on the ambulance meeting and Christ Charles on the county firemen’s meeting and said that the next meeting will be held March 29. He also is alternate delegate to the State Firemen’s association. James Markley reported on the Zone 7 meeting. Next meeting will be held March 19.
