Indian Team Bows But Trips Barons
Who Seek To Change Name Of Game
Sometimes the name of the
game is not victory (
Tuesday night, Feb. 19, as
Donegal played its final
basketball game of the
season, Manheim Central
did change the name and put
every effort into scoring 100
points for the evening.
So, if that was truly the
objective of the contest,
Donegal was the winner.
For, the final score was 99-
63.
With all but three minutes
of the game gone and Central
holding 96 points, the Barons
put everything available into
the game, seeking the round
century point.
But, Donegal did not
cooperate and began putting
on the brakes in the up-and-
down-the-hardwood-race.

the game ended were the
losers by one oint of their
chief goal.
Victory, did go to the
visiting Barons, who had the
games well in hand from the
beginning, scoring 24-28-23-
24 in a consistant pattern
against the Indians’ 14-15-23-
12 in their four periods.
Nate Bridgette having hsi
best night since Donegal was
on its three-game victory
string back in January,
counted 19 points to lead the
Tribe. Dave Schlosser and
Jack Dettinger had 13 each.
Central needed the win -
not the 100 points - to stay in
a tie for second place in
Section II of the L-L league
with Solanco, one game
ahead of Garden Spot.

the season.
As the curtain came down
on the ’73-'74 campaign,
Bridgette captured high
scoring honors, hitting a big
total of 244. He was followed
by Dave Schlosser as the
only other Indian to top 200,
hitting 230. Kevin Miller
totaled 198 and Jack Det-
tinger, 183.
The 99-64 score Tuesday in
the finale, calls attention to
the fact that five Donegal
opponents ran more than 90
points, four of them in the
second round of play. The
fifth was in a pre-season
game with Red Lion.
In one of the high-scoring
contests, Donegal had 81
points and in two more the
Tribe topped 60, un-
derscoring the potential
offensive thrust the Indians
had and are expected to have
in the 1974-’75 season when
the heart and core of the
Indian team returns for
another try for the honors.
