The president Mrs. Goldie Yordy was in charge. It was aecided to carry out the usual Christmas obligations again. The next meeting will be Dec. 3 at the home of Mrs. Alice Leas. Remember the Advent Organ Concert to be held Saturday evening, Dec. 1, at 7:30 at the United Church of Christ. Professor Harold R. Hunt of York will be the guest organist. Special Thanksgiving Service and Holy Communion will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church November 21 at 7:30 P.M. Main St., died Sunday, Nov. 18, at Baily Nursing Home, Elizabethtown, after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Dr. David C. Stoner, a practicing physician in the Mount Joy area who died in 1953. A resident of Mount Joy for the past 45 years, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Joy, and Lutheran Church Women of Trinity. Born in Astoria, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Dr. John Adams Biever and Mary Ellen Myers Biever. Mrs. Stoner is survived by four children, Helen D., wife of Jay G. Eicherly, Mount Joy; Dr. John C. Stoner, Columbia; Russell P. Stoner, M.D., Waddington, N.Y, and Mariellen, wife of Richard H. Hoffman, St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren, and nine great- grandchildren. Services were held at the convenience of the family at the Heilig funeral home and burial was made in the Eberle cemetery. WALTER E. SCHEFFER Walter A. Scheffler, 77, of 178 Manheim St., died Friday af- ternoon, Nov. 16, in Lancaster General hospital after an illness of several weeks. He was the husband of Ger- trude Hofman Scheffler. He was born in Leipzig, Germany, a son of the late Gustav and Augusta Hofman Scheffler. He came to the United States 49 years ago and lived since then in Mount Joy. Scheffler was a machinist and operated his own bicycle and gun shop for many years in “Mount Joy. In 1961 he retired from the finishing department of Arm- strong Cork Co. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Joy, a life member of the Mount Joy Sportsmen’s Assn., Mount Joy Lions Club, Mount Joy Leisure Club, Friendship Fire Co. No. 1 of Mount Joy, a director of the Mount Joy Community Council and was a representative for Troop 63, Boy Scouts of America to the Western District Com- mittee of the Lancaster - Lebanon Council. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jean M., wife of Ervin R. Weaver, of Mount Joy; two grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Martha Taubert, Leipzig, Germany. Services were held from the Heilig funeral home Monday afternoon, Nov. 19, and burial was made in the Mount Joy cemetery. CLAYTON B. GOOD Clayton B. Good, 61, of Mount Joy R2, died Friday morning, Nov. 16, at his home after a lingering illness. A retired employe of Ger- berich-Payne Shoe Co., he was a member of United Zion Church in Elizabethtown. He also belonged to Milton Grove Sportsmen’s Club and Goodwill Hunting Associaton of Lancaster County. He was the husband of the late Grace Wolgemuth Good, who died last July 17. Born in Rapho Twp., he was the son of the late Amos G. and Amanda Becker Good. He is survived by the following children: Kenneth W., Mount Joy; Lois J., wife of Eugene S. Finley, Mount Joy R2; Frederick W., Mount Joy R2, and Edward, at home. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and was the last of his immediate family. Services were held from the United Zion ‘church, Elizabethtown, on Monday af- ternoon. Burial was made in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. PAUL W, HERSHEY Paul W. Hershey, 63, formerly of Mount Joy, R2, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at the Veterans Administration Hosptial, Reno, Nev., following a short illness. Born in Mt. Joy Twp., he was a son of the late Christian N. and Frances Wolgemuth Hershey. He was a graduate of Mt. Joy High School in 1927 and attended Temple University in the field of journalism. He served as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Surviving are two sisters: Alverda M., wife of Henry W. Frank, Mt. Joy R2, and Miriam Elizabeth, wife of Harry W. Engle, Hershey. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m. at the Nissley Funeral Home, with Rev. B.E. Thuma officiating. Burial was made in Cross Roads cemetery. CARRIE WEAVER GROSH Mrs. Carrie Weaver Grosh, 97, formerly of 251 Marietta Ave., Mount Joy, died Tuesday af- ternoon in the Messiah Home, Harrisburg, after a long illness. She was the widow of John Grosh, who died in 1950. She was a member of Cross Roads Brethren in Christ Church, Mount Joy. Born in Marietta, she was the daughter of the late John and Kathryn McClure Weaver. -She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Anna M. Yingst, Shiremanstown, five grand- children and seven great- grandchildren. Services were held from the Heilig funeral home on Friday, Nov. 16, and burial was made in the Cross Roads cemetery. School Christmas Program Dates Set Christmas programs at elementary schools in the Donegal district have been scheduled as follows: Grandview, Dec. 18; Maytown, Dec. 10; Seiler, Dec. 11, and Riverview, Dec. 20. Grandview and Seiler will hold their program at the Beahm junior high school auditorium.
