The offense, led by Scott Jones, Darryl Shank, and Brian Ney, was unable to get rolling until the fourth quarter when a Ney to Joe Butz pass play covered 62 yards and the score. The defense, led by Tom Weber, John Haugh, Steve Butz, Joe Butz and Cubby Gen- try, was just not fast enough to stop the Elks outside running game. When Donegal was able to catch the ball carrier some bruising tackles forced several fumbles which were recovered by Ted Richards, Dave Eichler and Phil Landis. The loss dropped the “B” team record to 2-3 with one to go. The “A” team ran into a bad case of interceptionitis as three passes were picked off by the home team and the Braves went down, 20-0. The offense, led by Doug Hopwood, Scott Mowrer, Mark Divet and Todd Richards, never got untracked as the Elks swarmed all over the ball carriers. Meanwhile, the defense, led by Steve White, Steve Banks, Bob Williams and Jim Rowe, was unable to contain the Elks. Scott Baker did intercept a pass, but the offense could not capitalize on it. The “A” team’s record now stands at 1-4 in league play. The “C” team didn’t fare too much better as they were held to a 0-0 tie in a spine-tingling last- minute try. Donegal had the ball on the Elks 3 yard line after Allan White scampered 42 yards on a fourth down play with 45 seconds remaining, but couldn’t punch it across and time ran out with the ball on the 1 yard line. The of- fense, led by White, Steve Meszaros, Frank Brommer and Todd Butz, moved the ball well on occasion, but failed to mount a scoring drive. The defesne, led by Jeff Kauffman, Jeff Duke, Steve Neal and Darin Kolp, contained the Elks offense causing several fumbles which were recovered by White, Duke and Joe Althoff. Although the “C” team did not win, they find themselves in sole possession of first place as next week’s opponent, the Presidents, suffered their first defeat. The “‘C’”’ team still has not been scored upon in any game this year and-they hope to keep that record intact next week. Next Sunday, the 21st, the Braves entertain the Presidents on the DHS field with the “B” NEWCOMER MOTORS, game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The “C” team needs a tie or victory to wrap up their Division Cham- pionship.
