JOHN A. BARD
John A. Bard, 67, of Columbia
R1, died at his home unex-
pectedly Thursday, March 1. He
had been under the care of a
physician. He was the husband of
Viola Wittle Bard.
Born in Lancaster County, he
was the son of the late Simon S.
and Emma Amand Bard. He was
employed by the Grey Iron
Casting Co. He was a member of
the Ironville Fire Co.
In addition to his widow, he is
survived by one son, John W.
Bard, Columbia; one grand-
daughter; one step-brother,
Elvin Brubaker, Dayton, Ohio;
and two sisters, Mrs. Annie
Shuyler, Lititz, and Mrs. Emma
Longenecker, Columbia R2.
Services were held from the
Nissley funeral home Monday
afternoon and burial was made in
the Silver Spring cemetery.
CASPER (CAP) EATER
Casper (Cap) Eater of 538 W.
Market St., Marietta, died
Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 10:25 a.m.
at his residence. He was 72 and
the husband of Eleanor Barnhart
Eater.
Born in Marietta, he was a son
of the late George and Carrie
Hester Eater. He was employed
as a bakery salesman by Man-
beck Products Inc., for 40 years.
Eater was a member of St. John’s
Lutheran Church, Maytown.
In addition to his widow he is
survived by a daughter, Maxine,
wife of Donald Leibfried, of
Elizabethtown; five sisters, Mrs.
Benjamin Maloney and Mrs.
Miriam Campbell, both of
Marietta; Mrs. Anna Nell,
Lancaster; Mrs. Joseph Her-
chelroath, Wrightsville, and Mrs.
Jean Richardson, York; three

brothers, Winfried, George
Brandt and John F. Eater, all of
Marietta, and two grandchildren.
Services were held from the
Smedley funeral home on Friday,
March 2, and burial was made in
the Maytown Union Cemetery.

school students were inducted
Tuesday, March 6, into the
National Honor Society at service
conducted by present members
of the D.H.S. chapter.
