§ DEOTION
The famous mountaineer
George Lee Malloy was asked
why men want to climb a
mountain. He gave the much
reply. “Because it is
the significant fact that be-
yond the basic needs of life
we all have goals, ideals, and
concepts that need to be ful-
filled. Fulfiliment of these
higher needs is just as impor-
tant as food, shelter, or sur-
vival. Decide what goals and
ideals you want to see accom-
plished in your own life and
give them your determination
and devotion. Remember that
you have a need to reach
them “because they are
there.”
Linen and cottons dipped in
a light starch solution are less
apt to soil, and stains wash
out more readily.

MATURITY
Have you ever wondered
why so many men and wom-
en reach their middle years
and then start asking such
questions as, ‘“What’s it all
about? What am I living for?”
It may well be that this is a
perfectly natural process. As
we mature through our life
experiences, we should pause
every so often for a self-reap-
praisal. If we are lost in a for-
est a good idea is to climb to
a high place and view the sur-
roundings. Then we know
which direction to take to
avoid getting lost,
student home. The selection
signifies administrative recog-
nition of exemplary citizenship
at the privately-endowed
school for boys.
Robert, 17, is a senior tak-
ing the college preparatory
liberal arts curriculum. He is
president of his student home
council, and a member of the
Spartan Chapter of the Na-
tional Honor Society, the stud-
ent senate, and the touring
varsity Glee Club. He is also
one of the School’s representa-
tives to the Capital Area
Youth Forum.
Twenty-three students were
inducted into the select group
at a special convocation on
December 15, 1972.
