Main St., Phone; 665.2477 El Manheim [@ Mail Deadlines Now at Hand Officer-in-Charge Gerald Ho- stetter urged immediate mail- ing of all domestic Christmas cards and parcels, Earlier this year, the Postal Service urged the public to mail as early as possible and announced a series of recom- mended mailing dates to in- sure delivery in time for Christmas, The last of the suggested mailing dates is Thursday, De- cember 21, for mailing domes- tic airmail greeting cards with in the 48 “mainland” States. The latest suggested date for airmail to Alaska and Hawaii is Dec. 20. “In view of the excellent cooperation received from early mailers so far this year, we are confident that holiday mail deposited immediately will still be delivered in time for Christmas,” Hostetter said. Nissley Given Council Award Chris M. Nissley, sales manager for A. H. Hoffman Seeds, Inc., Landisville, has been named recipient of the 1972 Pennsylvania “Grassland Council Award “for his out- standing contributions to the state’s grassland agriculture.” Nissley was honored at the Forage Conference, held Nov- ember 20-21 on the Pennsyl- vania State University campus He was cited for his numerous agronomy projects which re- late to forage maintenance and production. A pioneer in the formation9 of the Pennsylvania Grassland Council, he works closely with Penn State specialists and commercial company repre- sentatives in improving forage among farmers. A native of Lancaster coun- ty, he received his bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Mar- shall College and did graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania and Duke Uni- versity. Nissley taught biology for seven years at the Manheim Township high school and joined A. H. Hoffman in 1938. He served in the U. S. Ar- my during World War II then returned to the seed company as a district sales manager. The award winner is mar- ried to the former Mabel Birk. They are the parents of a son, Scott, a civilian engin- eer with the U. S. Navy. Director Glen Leib will con- duct the instrumental nums« bers. Vocal presentations will in- clude “Hallelujah Chorus,’ from the Messiah by Handel; “Ring Those Christmas Bells" and ‘Jingle Bells Trawvelogue'’ with accompanying choregra- phy directed by Miss Linda Milan. Soloists at the organ console will be Keith Smith, Tammy Newcomer, Marsha Mellingee and Shraon Zimmerman. A silver offering will be taken.
