Mrs. Rose Leas returned from the Columbia hospital and is convalescing at home. Grandma Hiestand was tak- en to St. Joseph's hospital last Wednesday. She is in Room 552. According to reports from her son she is holding her own. Mr. and Mrs. John Leas are the happy grandparents of a new granddaughter, born on Sept. 5 at Tampa General hos- pital, Tampa, Fla. Her parents are Spec. 5 and Mrs, Gregory (Kathleen Leas) Krouse. East Donegal Township is the first township in the coun- ty to seek federal flood insur- ance for its residents and businessmen. : A report was given at the the Supervisors’ meeting on financial benefits from the re- actment of the Civil War Bat- tle over the Labor Day week- end. Bob Roaten reported that the Fire company netted $5,- 500; a representative from the East Donegal Jaycees reported they netted $3,000 from the Carnival and the Maytown Youth Organization reported $1250 from the sale of food. The money earned by the lat- ter organization will be used toward sponsoring youth base- ball teams. The family of Mrs. Miriam Haines held a birthday party in honor of her 97th birthday anniversary. It was held at the Epler Nursing Home where Mrs. Haines is a guest, The installation of officers for the Maytown American Legion Auxiliary was held on Tuesday evening, Sept. 12 at the United Church of Christ. It was in the form of a cov- ered dish social. The following are the new officers: Mrs, Chester Yordy, president Mrs. Norman Leas, first vice presi- dent; Miss Grace Henderson, second vice-president; Mrs. Henry Haines, treasurer; Mrs. Robert Barr, secretary; Mrs. Michael Gratch, Chaplain; Mrs. Robert White, historian, and Mrs. Gerge McConnell, sgt.-at-arms. Unit 809 has reached mem- bership goal for the coming year which began Sept. 12. The illuminator class of the Church of God played golf at Kissel Hill last Saturday. Our community mourns the loss of two of our young- er citizens, Kenneth Wolfe and Wilson (Bertie) Penwell. Bertie was very active in civ- ic affairs. Mrs, Wilbur Weaver is the new secretary at St. Joseph's Lutheran church. The first choir rehearsal was held at the St. John’s Lu- theran church last Wednes- day evening.
