Never leave a lighted grill unattend- ed and keep children a safe distance from the cooking area. Make sure you have a fire ex- tinguisher on hand too. Since both burning charcoal and’ lighter fluid can produce a dangerous and harmful a- mount of carbon monoxide when burned in a confined area, restrict your outdoor cooking from tents, trailers campers, automobiles, beats, FROM BLUE SHIELD - TE — - garages and other unventi- lated areas. Finally, make sure all coals are doused com- pletely. Sunburned Lips Sunburned lips, as well as a sunburned body, are often the result of a fun-filled day in the strong summer sun. Lipstick will often provide the necessary protection for women. Other- wise, outdoor enthusiasts should wear a topical sun-screen ap- plied directly to the lips. Several different preparations are specifically designed for this purpose and are available in a colorless stick. Treat sunburned lips with cool, wet compresses or a bland ointment. If your reaction is severe, consult a physician. In most fields it is too late to use Lasso but AAtrex (atrazine) may be used on corn un to 15 inches high; AAtrex with oil does a good job but should be ap- plied when the corn foliage is dry and no rain expected for at least 24 hours. On fields that have already been spray- ed with herbicide and the weeds continue to grow. it might be best to go back to the old custom of mechanical cultivation. This method may not get all of the weeds in the row but will reduce the weed growth between the rows and reduce weed comope- tition for nlant food and light. The use of 2.4-D on corn over 10 inches high is risky 11S time of year. If local chang es occur on your skin — most often face, hands or lips—see your doctor if they do not clear up in two weeks. 3 EE Rn eeh H J The Ascol Blouse This is a delightful blouse to wear with your suit because fills in the neckline with its ascot tie.
