LLL Sn eo Deaths LOUISE SMID Miss Louise Smid, 85, of Mount Joy R1, died Thursday April 6, at 4:15 p.m. in her residence after a short illness Born in York County to the late Klass HL and Anna C. Limtz Smid, Miss Smid was a former employee of the York United Hosiery company. She was a member of Trin- ity Lutheran church in Mount Joy and the Iowa Council No. 26 of the Daughters of Amer- ica in York, Survivors include three sis- ters and a brother; Mrs. Anna B. Johnson, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Mrs. Edna M. Guigan, of Mount Joy, Mrs. Miriam S. Gainer, of Mount Joy: Mrs. Alma G. Wright, of York, and Herman K. Smid of Washng- fon, D.C. Services were held from the Etzweiler funeral home, York, on Monday morning, April 10, and burial was made in the Prospect Hill ceme- tery in York. HARRY P. ROYER Services for Harry P. Roy- er, who passed away Satur- day, April 1, at Pittsburgh, were held Tuesday, April 4. He is survived by the wid- ow, Rena V. Royer; daughter- inlaw, Mary Knestrich; a granddaughter and a great granddaughter. SUSAN K. HERR Mrs, Susan K. Herr, 70, wife of Clarence W. Herr, of 432 W. Main street, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at Lancaster General hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Rapho Twp. a daughter of the late Aaron and Lizzie Koser Nissley, she was a member of Cross Roads Brethren in Chirst Church of Mount Joy, Surviving besides her hus- band are two foster daughters Letha, wife of Kenneth Her- shey, and Minnie, wife of Stanley Danz, both of Lancas- ter; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Cora K. Nissley of Harrisburg and Sara K., wife of Marlin Witmer, Mount Joy; and a brother, Abram K. Nissley, of Elizabethtown R2. Services were held from the Cress Roads Church Wednes- day, April 12, and burial was made in the adjoining ceme- tery. PAGE 6 WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 1972 Jaycees [ Joycee-ettes Install Officers were installed and awards were presented Satur- day night, April 8 by the Mount Joy Jaycees and the Joycee-ettes- at an annual banquet, held at the Overlook Country Club. Mrs. C. Richard Hallgren was inducted as president of the Joycee-ettes and Larry Gainer as president of the Jaycees. They succeed Mrs. Ronald Hawthorne and John Harnish. Regional State vice-president Ken Myer installed Gainer. Jaycees of the month awards were presented to James Gingrich and to Sam Harnish. The former conducted the re- cent organization elections and Harnish was top salesman in the recent apple butter project. Harnish sold 76 jars, taking orders throughout the community and delivering on foot, Special recognition was giv- en to Committee Chairmen Leo Moore, Andy Reymer, Phil Sinegar, Larry Gainer and Ron Wagner, Gainer also was recognized as Jaycee of the Quarter (January-Febru- ary-March). Thomas Moran was recog- nized as an Exhausted Roost- er since each Jaycee who reaches 36 years of age is ex- hausted from the club. Presidential Awards were given to James McNift and Leo Moore. Meets Members of the Mount Joy Fire company Ambulance committee held its April meet- ing Saturday evening, April 8 at the fire hall. Six members were present. A successful paper drive by the Athletic association for the Ambulance committee was reported and thanks expressed to the public for the coopera- tion it gave and to the wom- en of the auxiliary who pro- vided a noon lunch. Surcharge Given Nudge Down Columbia-United Telephone Company has announced a re- duction of the surcharge rate on all customer bills.
