Miss Ida M. Greenawalt, 69,
of 90 East Main street, Mount
Joy, died Wednesday morning
Mareh 1, at Lancaster General
hospital after a lengthy He
ness.

the daughter of the late Oliv:
er K. .and ‘Anna ‘Rhoads
Greenawalt.
She was a lifetime resident
of Mount Joy and a member
of St. Mark's United Metho-
dist church,
Illness forced her 10. retire
from a career as a beautician
in 1956.
She is survived by two sis-
ters, Mrs. Clara Renn, Lan-
clster and Miss Virginia
with whom she lived.
Services were held Satur-
day, March 4, from the Heilig
funeral home and burial was
made in Eberle cemetery.
JAY A. SHERK
Jay A. Sherk, 81, of Colum-
bia R2, formerly a resident
of Stauffertown, died at 8:30
a.m. Friday, March "3, at his
home.
He was the husband of Ka-
tie Stauffer Sherk.
He was born in West Hemp-
field Twp., a son of the late
Jacob and Elmira Rhoads
Sherk. He was a men\per of
the Mount Pleasant Brethren
in Christ church, where he
was a deacon 26 years, and
was employed by Noggle Gar-
ment Factory, Manheim, be-
fore retiring in 1957.
The Sherks cbserved their
54th wedding anniversary in
January.
Surviving, in addition to
his widow, are two daughters
Anna Ruth, wife of John K.
Kibler, Columbia R2, and
Mary Arlene, wife of Mickey

“Mrs. Flora B. Frady, 67, of
120 N. Gay street, Marietta,
died at 9 pm. Tuesday, Feb.
29, at St. Joseph hospital, af-
ter an illness of three days.
She was the widow of Dan-
iel Frady, and a daughter of
- the late Abram and Nettie Li-
nard Beates, having been born
in Columbia,
She was employed at Ap-
pley’s Glass Gardens, Mariet-
ta florist, for the past 22 yrs.
Mrs. Frady was a member
of the Marietta Mennonite
church.
Survivors include a son,
Daniel Frady Jr., of Rowenna
Marietta R1; daughters, Doro-
thy, wife of John Smith, of
Columbia; Alice, wife of Char-
les Wilt, Marietta; three sis-
ters, Mrs. Paul Smith and
Mrs, Earl Stotz, both of Mari-
etta; Mrs. Sterling Snyder, of
Lititz; two brothers, Amos
Beates, Lancaster, and Abram
Beates, Newtown, Berks Co.
and 12 grandchildren.
Services were held from
the Smedley funeral home,
Marietta, Saturday, March 4,
and burial was made in the
Marietta cemetery.
WILLIAM H. WAGNER
William H. Wagner, 81, of
123 East Middle street, Han-
over, formerly of the Mt. Joy
area, died at 8:30 p.m. March
1, at the Golden Age nursing
home, Hanover. His first wife
Tursie Bixler Wagner, died in
1936. He was born in Man-
heim Twp. and was a son of
the late Edwin Wagner and
Alverta Wentz Wagner Bish,
He was a member of St. Pauls
Lutheran church, Hanover;
Home Association and Eagles
Lodge of Hanover.
Surviving are his wife. Mrs.
Irene Laughman Wagner;

NEWTON I. McCORD
Newton I. McCord, 67, of
511 Hand Ave., Lancaster,
formerly of Mount Joy, died
at 12:45 a.m. Monday, March
6, at Lancaster General hospi-
tal, after a prolonged illness.
He resided in Lancaster for
the past 29 years and was a
local general contractor, retir-
ing 10 years ago. He was a
former member of Tucquan
Lions Club and was a member
of the Methodist faith.
McCord was married to
Ada GG. Breneman McCord;
He was born in Bartville, Pa.
the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Peter McCord.
Besides his widow, at home,
he is survived by a daughter,
Mrs. Jean Markley, Lancaster

Calvin B. Shenk, 60, of Mt.
Joy R2, died Tuesday morn-
ing, March 7, at his home.
Dr. Newton Kendig, county
coroner, said death was due
to a heart attack.
Shenk was a former em-
ployee of Penn Central Rail-
road and was a self-employ-
ed bicycle repairman.
He was born in Manheim,
a son of the late Herman Y.
and Katie Buffenmyer Shenk,
and was married to Anna
Heinicke Shenk. Besides his
widow, he is survived by two
sons, Jerry D., Lancaster, and
Terry L., Mt. Joy R2; three
step - grandchildren; a sister,
Iva, wife of David Snowden,
Lancaster; and two brothers,
Herman B., Lancaster, and
Leon B., Neffsville,
Services will be held from
the Keech funeral home, Man-
heim, at 10 a.m. Friday, Mar.
10, and burial will follow in
the Penryn cemetery.

Carl J. Dyer, 174, of B21
Third St., Lancaster, died Fri-
day, March 3, in Spokane,
Wash., where he was visiting
his daughter.
A native of Mount Joy, he
was a retired printer and
had been employed at Lancas-
ter Press for 40 years.

gan, New Jersey, New York
and West Virginia.
Jaycees Hold
Mcnte Carlo
The Mt. Joy VFW was the
setting Saturday night, March
4, for the first ‘Monte Carlo”
sponsored by the Mount Joy
Jaycees.
An admission ticket entitled
each person to $25,000 of play
money to be used at various
game tables throughout a two-
hour period.
Winners were then selected
in accordance with the total
amount of money won. First
place winner was Rick Bre-
ault with $565,000. Other
winners were Ruth McKain,
Ronald Cooke, Ron Kennedy,
Bill Grove, John Harnish,
Robert Gantz, Richard Lesher
and John Fosnot.
Each winner was permitted
to select a gift from the priz-
es on display.
The entertainment resumed
with a cold buffet followed by
dancing to the popular sounds
of the Modified Versons.
Chairmen for this ~ event
were Larry Gainer and Ron-
ald Wagner.

13 to 19 at 7:30 o’clock.
Rev. Walters has served
pastorates in Lancaster, Bali-
more, Md., Waynesboro, and
Grantham and is now serving
at the Skyline View church
near Harrisburg.
Special nights will be ob-
served as follows: Monday,
Healing Night, Tuesday, Fill-
a-pew Night, Wednesday,
Men’s Night, Thursday, Fami-
ly Night, Friday, Children’s
Night, and Saturday, Youth
