MAYTOWN NEWS NOTES Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hossler, Sr. were very happy last week for two reasons. They received an announcement that their son Phil, a junior at West Chester State college was named on the Dean’s List with an average of 3.8—not bad for a chap who carried a heavy football schedule. The second reason was that their son Lt. Paul Hossler, Jr. surprised them last Saturday by dropping in on them un- expectedly. He is stationed at the Los Angeles Air Force Tracking Center. He has a 6- day leave. Sharon Long, who was in- jured in an auto accident, re- turned from the hospital last Saturday with her arm in a cast. Her upper arm was bro- ken. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Frank celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Monday. Their son Bob called them from Greece last Saturday to wish them a happy anniversary. Bob is in the Navy on the ship Leary. The American Legion Aux- iliary meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 14 at the home of Mrs. Ada Frank. Mrs. Dale Arnold celebrat- ed her birthday anniversary last Sunday. The Youth of the Church of God will attend the CGYA Rally at the Lancaster Church of God on Saturday. John Leas has been a pa- tient in St. Joseph’s hospital. He is expected home this week. Mrs. Henry Haines Sr., is a guest at the Epler Nursing Home in Mountville. Mrs. Ruth Newcomer is moving about with the use of a walker. She welcomes vis- itors: If you have a few min- utes to spare, drop in to chat with her and help boost her morale. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Leas are looking forward to a visit with their daughter Tana and husband in Tiwan. Mrs. C. R. Hostetter, of Pal- merton, visited her sister, Miss Marie Harter for sever- al days last week. On Jan. 11th Mrs. Hazel Crankshaw and Miss Grace Henderson snoke to the troop about the beginning of Maytown and what it was like when they were the same age as the Girl Scouts. On Jan. 18 Patrick Kenney showed gwo films about pre- judice entitled: “Willie Catch- es On” and “Black and White: Uptight”. Mrs. Robert Houseal had a toe amputated last week and is convalescing at her home. The Fire company answer- ed a fire call to Armstrong’s Carpet Plant last Wednesday evening. They answered an ambulance call to an accident last Fridav night. Mrs. John Long was driv- ing on Rock Point Rd. last Friday night when a dog ran out in front of her car. She swerved the car to try to avoid hitting the dog. As she did she got in soft ground, hit a pole and wrecked her car, Mrs. Long received lacerations of the face and was badly bruised. her daughter Sharon, is in the Columbia hospital being treated for injuries and her son escaped with minor injuries.
