a ere—— TTT TY erm These hot nights when you may be having trouble falling asleep, consider this! ® ©& o There has been a chronic shortage of bed pillows in Russia for years. Now things have gotten so bad that in some towns newlyweds, along with a certificate of marriage, are given a coupon entitling them to buy a pillow. e © o Because we felt like it, we rolled up a cooy of the Mount Joy Bulletin for June 16 and sent it to the New York Times editor, with a very, very brief note. (The paper carried our editorial express: ing support of the Times’ pos- ition in regard to the publish- ing of papers dealing with the involvement in Vietnam.) ®e Oo @ Monday we received the following note from none oth- er than Arthur Ochs Sulzber- ger, president and publisher of the New York Times: “Thank you very much for your letter of June 16. We are most appreciative of the editorial support the Mount Joy Bulletin has given the New York Times.” ® © oO About all one can say about that is that ‘“‘the bigger they are the ‘bigger’ they are.” ®e © oo ‘Wonder if Milton Shapp has wondered recently why he wanted so badly to be governor of the Common- wealth of Pennsylvania! e © o We're promised a new kind or state tax package within a few days. oe © o ‘Which is another way of admitting that we leap from one crisis to another, never solving anything. Instead of taking a good hard. look at the taxing situation in Penn- sylvania, we probably will jump-quickly into another kind: of fire—maybe not un: like the one which has just been extinguished. ® © 0 It -would appear that the (Turn to page 16) THE 5 © MOUNT LI JOY er” v7 ca® 7 J 2 3 Mount Joy's ONLY Newspaper — Devoted to the Best Interest and Welfare of Mount Joy : or , o VOL. 71. We sent her a copy of that week's paper, and this week back came a gracious note whieh we share with you: “Did not intend to delay so long to acknowledge copy of the Mount Joy Bulletin whieh contained under ‘Of This and That’ an article which I knew referred to me. ‘““When I was quite young, after school, while Mother was preparing dinner we sang, she carrying alto and I soprano. We sang hymns and repeated Psalms. The first Psalm memorized was ‘Sun of my soul, Thou Savior Dear’. So too my Mother goes the credit, “I have lived through four Hymmnals and am still memor- izing: ‘We would have a better world today if parents would . take time to have communion with God at a suitable time with their children. But both parents work and home (?) is a place where food is snatch- ed; and perhaps slept in sometimes.” ¥ sk k The concert by the ‘“Out- reach’ young people Sunday by the editor's wife evening in War Memorial Park was well attended. Carrying folding chairs, some 300 people converged on the park and spent a pleasant hour and a half lis- tening to the earnest music and message of some eight or nine Christian young peo- ple.
