This money is used to give them some of the small gifts of happiness which we so freely enjoy. These poppies are made by the disabled vet- erans each year. On Friday, May 7 Mrs. Gol- die Yordy and William Smith attended the American Le- gion Awards Assembly at W. I. Beahm Jr. high school and represented Donegal Unit 809 Mrs. Yordy presented the Auxiliary to Maureen Jones and Mr. Smith presented the Legion Award to John Weid- man, The regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held at the home of Mrs. Goldie Yordy May 10. The Americanism chairman repor- ted that Mollie Fry, a junior at Donegal high school was chosen by the faculty for our Unit to attend Girls‘ Key- stone State at Shippensburg in June and that she had been accepted. The Flea Market chairman reported that reservations were still being accepted. "Mrs. Yordy, the president, was appointed to attend the American Legion Convention at Pittsburgh July 14 - 17. May birthday anniversaries were Jane Fryberger May 12, Mrs. Margaret Brandt May 15 and Mrs. Goldie Yordy May 24. Mrs. Margaret Brandt was surprised by some of her friends who dropped in last Saturday evening to help her to celebrate. Mrs. Minnie Mann, Coates- ville, is visiting Mrs, Brandt and the Greers, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pres- cott, Elizabethtown, visited Mr. and Mrs. George Engle last Saturday. Miss Marian Heisey, the Art Supervisor had an Art Exhib- it and demonstrations in Stit- chery on Styrofoam, Paris- craft Relief Panels, Copper Response, Linoleum Block Prints, Ceramic Animals and Jewelry, Felt Bags, Head- bands, etc., and Japanese Fish Kites, Morrell Shields, In- strumental Supervisor, had Grade 3 Flutophone Band present several numbers. The grand finale was the presen- tation by the band, A special commendation is due these supervisors for their fine work. Of course this would not have been pos- sible without the assistance of the teachers, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cle- ments and sons Robert and John, New Castle, Del, visit- ed Mrs. John Wolfe and Miss Helen Sload last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hou- seal and sons visited Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Julius, Dover, Pa, last Sunday. The Church of God cele- brated its 113th Anniversary Sunday, May 16th. Mr. John Hart was the guest speaker. The Excelsior Class of the above church met on Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Singer. Children’s Day Services will be held Sunday morning, June 6 at 9:30. Holy Communion will be observed at St. John’s Luth- eran Church Sunday, May 30 during the morning service, Flea Market and Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 31.
