Clarence Garber at New Danville. After a period of reminisc- ing, Clarence gave us a tour of his “rose garden”. He won 19 ribbons and was awarded a prize for the best fforibunda (Angel Face) rose at the Rose Show at the Men’s Garden Club on June 6. A delicious covered dish luncheon was served at 4:30 p.m. to the following: Mr. and Mrs. J. Clarence Garber; Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Haines, Maytown; Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Kraybill, Lancaster; Miss Em- ily Kraybill. Mount Joy; Mr. and Mrs. Jay Hoover, of East Petersburg; Mrs. Helen Hos- tetter, Palmerton; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Frank, Maytown; John L. There were 23 members in the class and 17 are still liv- ing. Girl Scouts Take Washington Trip Mount Joy Cadette Girl Scout Troop #27 took an ov- ernight bus trip to Washing- ton, D. C. on June 9 and 10. The troop has been working on the Traveler Badge, and stayed at the Charter House Motor Lodge. Tuesday the troop toured the Capitol, the guide was Miss Sara Warner, an aide in Rep. Edwin Eshleman’s office; Smithsonian Institute build- ings, and Historical Wax Mu- seum. In the evening the troop enjoyed swimming in the pool at the Motor Lodge. Wednesday the troop tour- ed the Bureau of Printing & Engraving, rode up Embassy Row, Islamic Center, Wash- ington Cathedral, Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of Unknown Soldier, Kennedy Graves, and Iwo Jima, Lin- coln and Jefferson Memorials, Washington Monument, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, there was a full mili- tary funeral nearby and fol- lowing the changing of the guard, an Elementary School placed a wreath on the tomb.
