Program for the evening was a film by the Fulton Nation- al Bank on motivation. * * * Hempfield high school stu- dent Council sponsored the third annual “Gordon Millar Memorial Fund” fashion show on Friday evening, Ap- ril 18 at 8 pm. in Center- ville Junior high school audi- torium 805 Centerville Rd. Show proceeds will be used in the Gordon Miller Scholarship fund presented annually to a graduating Hempfield senior. The fund is a memorial to Gordon Mil- ler, a late member of the Hempfield high school facul- ty. Commenting on the femin- ine fashions was Miss Doris Reed, fashion coordinator at Hertzler’s, while the male apparel was described by William Mummert from Fill- ings Meen’s Store. * * * The new Flash (Hempfield high school newspaper), staff assumed control when the March issue was published. Jessie Hoffman is the new laditor-in-chief Mary Jean Kraybill and Diane Sonntag are the two assistant manag- ers. The news editors for the newspaper are Marilyn Zim- merman and Fred Winkel- man. The feature writing will be controlled by Linda Gard and Patricia Rody and the sports writing by Richard Russell and Sue Harrison. Thle Ladies Auxiliary to the Mount Joy Fire company met in the fire hall April 17. The president presided, with 19 members present. Birth- day greetings were extended to Dorothy Buller. On Friday, April 11 the band went to Grandview Ele- mentary and to Seiler Ele- mentary schools for their first concerts. On Wednesday, April 23 the band went to Maytown and Marietta Ele- mantary schools, This year the band is hav- ing an echange program with the Elizabethtown Jr. high school band. Their band came to Mount Joy on Thursday, April 17. The Beahm Junior high school band is scheduled to go to the Elizabethtown Jr. high on April 24. at 6:30 p.m. A Food sale will be held at the Mount Joy Fire Hall on May 9, starting at 3:30 p. m. NOTES - Later in thle season fhere will be a spring concert at the Beahm building. —Sharon Zimmerman Attend Circus On Friday, April 18 the third grades from Seiler School atteided the Zembo Shrine Circus in Harrisburg. Before the circus parade began several clowns did some funny tricks. There were many excellent animal acts in the three-ring circus. There were beautiful horses which danced and did other tricks. Many small dogs in pretty costumes performed. -Ele- phants and lions were train- ed to do clever things. A very thrilling act was performed on a high pole.
