and a member and past presi-
dent of the Elizabethtown Ro-
tary Club.
Born in Mount Joy Town-
ship, a son of the late Leand- |
er and Martha Farmer Groff,
he was a member of the Eliz-
abethtown Mennonite church.
Surviving are his wife,

Anna Ebersole Groff, three
children, B. Frank, John E.,
and Anna Martha, wife of
Dr. L. Werner Z. Felter, alle
of Elizabethtown, and three
granddaughters.
LESLIE C. HOBBS
Leslie C. Hobbs, 56, of
Donegal Springs Road, died
at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. |
22, in St. Joseph's hospital.
Born in Kingston, he was a |
son of Mrs. Edith Habblett,
Hanover Twp., Wilkes-Barre
RD, and the late Leslie J.
Hobbs.
He was a graduate of King-
ston high school and Wyom-
ing Seminary, and formerly
operated a restaurant in Lan-
caster. For the past several
years he was employed at St.
Joseph's hospital.
Besides his mother, he ig
survived by his wife, Eleanor
{a granddaughter,


Nash Hobbs, Philadelphia;
Snyder Derr.
He was a resident of Mount
Joy for 60 years and before
retirement, was employed
the Gray Iron Casting Co. for
55 years.
He was a member and trus-
tee of Friendship Fire Com-
pany No. 1 of Mount Joy and
was a 50-year member of the
Elizabethtown Moose Lodge
596.
Surviving are a daughter,
Beatrice, wife of James Keen-
er, Manhattan Beach, Calif.;
and a broth-
r, Charles Z. Derr, of Mount
Joy ®
Funeral services widl be
held Saturday, October 1,
from the Sheetz funeral home
at 2 p.m. and burial will be
made in the Eberle cemetery.
Friends may call at the fune-
ral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on
{ Friday.
Neighberhood
Girl Scouts Meet
The first meeting of the
Donegal Neighborhood Girl
Scout was held Monday, Sep-
tember 19 at 8 o'clock at the




Maytown Legion hall. Mrs.
Margaret Godshall, Neigh-
borhood chairman, was in
charge of the meeting.

The Calendar sale will
start November 1st to 30th.
Orders must be in York no
later than September 27.
«The Fall Council meeting
will be held Thursday, Nov.
10, in York. There will be a
bus Ieaving Memorial Park
at 5:15 p.m.
Troop conference will be
held Nov. 21 from 8 to 10 p.
m. at the Marietta communi-
ty house.
All the Girl Scouts are in-
vited to come to church ser-
vices with the Legion on
Veterans Day. It will be at
Chiques Methodist Church. A
bus will leave the fire house
at 10:15 am. and it will
bring the girls back again af-
ter the services.
The Lions Club invited all
the Girl Scouts to parade in
the .Halloween parade on Oc-
tober 29.
Mrs. Walter Brandt gave a
talk on Junior Needlework
Guild. Mrs. Brandt showed
the leaders different things
the girls could make in their
troops. Mrs. Brandt is chair-
man and Mrs. Ann Hedrick
is co-chairman.
Job training will be given
at the Mount Joy E. U. B.
