celebrated her birthday anni-
versary Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Mor-
ris spent Sunday at Shippens-
burg with Mr. and Mrs. Don-
ald Wilkinson.
Mrs. Leslie Blake & Beth
visited Carol Blake at Sus-
quehanna University last Fri-
day.
Miss Beatrice Datesman of
Columbia, called on your cor-
respondent on Saturday after-
noon.

Airman Donald Mayers was
entertained at a family din-
ner on Sunday. He left for a
tour of duty in Alaska.
The Women’s Guild of the
United Church of Christ en-
tertained the Women’s Guild
of Marietta United Church of
Christ last Tuesday evening.
Harold Endslow showed
slides. There was group sing-
ing and refreshments were
served.
The Illuminator Class of
the Church of God will meet
Thursday evening a the
home of Mr. and Mrs. John
Drace.
On Sunday Pastor Peirson
and Pastor Kendig Bergstres-
ses of Zion Evangelical Luth-
eran church of Penbrook will
exchange pulpits.

Legion Americanism commit-
tee attended the Awards As-
sembly at the Donegal Annex
last Friday. They presented
the awards that are given
annually to an eighth grade
girl and boy who qualifies
for this award. Patricia Lon-
genecker and Dennis Hay re-
ceived these awards.
Jane Fryberger will cele-
brate her birthday anniver-
sary on Thursday.
The annual Memorial Day
Parade will be held Monday,

May 30 at 5 p.m. The Bain-
bridge band and Donegal H.
S. band will march in the
parade.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hou-
seal and children spent Sum-
day with Mr: and Mrs. Rufus
Julius at Dover, Pa.
The Civic Association will
sponsor a card party to be
held Friday, May 20 at the
Legion Home at 8 p.m.
Mrs Frank Singer is a pa-
tient in the Lancaster Gen-
eral hospital.


LANDISVILLE - SALUNGA NEWS

The third annual vacation
auction of the Hempfield
Jaycee-ettes was held Satur-
day, May 7 at 1:30 pm: in
the Salunga Fire company
pavilion. Committee members
include, Mrs. Ralph Myers,
chairman, Mrs. Joseph Hem-
ler, Mrs. Ronald Myers, Mrs.
Roy Weitzel, and Mrs. Lester
Adams.
Proceeds from the auction
will benefit the scholarship
fund offered to a Hempfield
high school senior. Last year
| the group awarded two schol-
arships. Auctioneer was Rob-
ert Kaley of Hempfield Jay-
cees. Thirty-eight vacations
were offered.

Daughters of the members
of the evening and afternoon
circles of United Lutheran
Church Women of Zion Luth-
eran church, Landisville; pre-
sented a program at the an-
nual mother - daughter ban-
quet on May 11 at 6:30 p.m.
at the Landisville Fire Hall.
Also included on the pro-
gram was a chalk talk with
musical accompaniment, by
Miss Carol Schaum.
Hostesses included: Mrs.
Donald Kiehl, Mrs. Charles
Miller, Mrs. John Keene,
Mrs. Ben Greider, Mrs. Char-
les Long, Mrs. Wm. Piper
and Mrs. Charles Johnson.
The Hempfield Recreation
Center is conducting a mem-
bership drive for the Landis-
ville swimming pool, with
Mrs. Harry Hoffman Jr. ser-
ving as general chairman. As-
sisting on the committee are:
Richard Trussell, Mrs. Rus-
sel Getz, Mrs. Richard God-
frey, Douglas Williams, Mrs.
Lester Adams, Mrs. Fred Ko-

on May 14 from 1 to 5 p.m.
at Hempfield high school in

the session, which will fea-
ture games and exhibits from
cub packs in the distriet

iliary to Post 185 will hold
their meeting on Wednesday,
May 19, at 8 p. m. Hostess
will be Mrs. Lyman Gilbert.

Club was selling tickets for
the Saturday matinee only of
the Lancaster Kiwanis club’s
production of “Oklahoma.”

induction for the following
members into the National
Honor Society:
Gwenn Abbott, Betsy
Brown, Paul Conley, Chuck
Gallagher, Cheryl Ritten-
house, Laurel Schmoyer, Les-
lie Shelton, Diana Trussel,
Cynthia Wolfe, Virginia Zook
and Herbert Debus ,Hemp-
field's foreign exchange stu-
dent, all seniors.

mony. The Rev. Kirk Hudson
of Highland Presbyterian
church was guest = speaker.
Student speakers were Donna
Aument, Sue Cassey, Eileen
Anspach and Bill Johnson.

dent of Hempfield Chapter.

The Hempfield Neighbor-
hood Girl Scout leader, their
assistants and committee
members held their annual
covered dish supper Monday,
May 9 at 6:30 pm. at the
Farmdale elementary school
{with all attending providing
their own place settings.
Mrs. Burnell Nolt is neigh-
borhool chairman. The troops
supplied food for the supper
according to communities as
follows: Rohrerstown and St.
Leo’s, meat; Landisville, sal-
ads: Farmdale, coffee, sugar,
cream, rolls and butter;
Mountville, dessert; and East
Petersburg, potatoes.
